Force Name: 64th Tiparingan Penal Legion/Mechanized. “The Green Storm” Force Type: Penal Legion. History: Founded some 10 years ago, the 64th was a vanity project. The brainchild of governor Elias Ustane, who had decided to use the thousands of men and women with military experience at his disposal for something more than breaking rocks. The governor offered the disgraced soldiers and officers a chance to redeem themselves by taking up arms in the name of the God-Emperor once again instead of back-breaking labor. In the package were also the usual offer of amnesty at the end of their service along with better rations, decreased work load during the training and the chance of not dying of some tropical disease in a tropical prison. Ustane spent a great deal of Tipiranga's treasure in securing the necessary equipment and authorization to outfit a mechanized regiment out of the convicts of Tiparinga. While at the same time making a small fortune selling officer's commissions to the upper classes of the surrounding sectors. After roughly two years of training, the 64th was deemed combat worthy and deployed to its first battlefield, in the Laguenian system. The uprising there was already on its closing stages when the 64th arrived and so the Green Storm only experienced a couple months of actual combat. Still, the regiment earned some amount of renown in the conflict. Mostly because the “Green Storm” exceeded the low expectations of a Penal Legion. Though the regiment was officially reprimanded for its behavior towards civilians during the cleanup operations. The highlight of the 64th's service history so far was during this period. More specifically during their time garrisoning the Yalmar Forge World. A major pillar for the Imperial war effort in the area, Yalmar was assaulted by a collection of Traitor Marine warbands. The regiment behaved exemplary by hunkering down on the edges of the toughest sectors and letting the Skitarii and Astartes deal with the invaders. And though the 64th didn't survive completely unscathed, the regiment was able to secure a most valuable cache of volkite weaponry, apparently forgotten beneath a half collapsed underground storehouse. Needless to say they waited until they were already off world to announce this latest addition to their arsenal. Much to the delight of the regiment's techpriests After that the 64th spent three years in garrison duty in the Khorraimi Cluster, fighting off the odd pirate warlord and the sporadic uprising. Before being called up to join the expedition against the Dauntless Sector Headquarters: Wherever the regiment is deployed a suitable place is found. Able to both maneuver with speed to exploit breakthroughs and bring considerable firepower to bear. Usually however, the mechanized infantry elements are deployed with support from other Guard regiments, such as tanks or artillery Due to its origins in a jungle world, the 64th also maintains a few companies of light troops and vehicles. Their main purpose being scouting and infiltration in the thick jungle. Likewise, the regiment has also modified some of its vehicles to better operate in the jungle terrain, with varied success. Mortal enemy: Chaos Space Marines.

Name: Antunes Howlard. Gender: Male. Race: Human. Rank: Colonel. Personality: Proud and bitter, Colonel Howlard is a man that holds grudges and is slow to forgive. Once obsessed with following protocols and the letter of the rule, his decade commanding the 64th has somewhat changed his outlook, turning him into a much more “flexible” man. At least as long as no heresy is involved. Bio: Born to a noble family in the Argive system, Antunes first joined the PDF as a lieutenant straight out of the military academy. Eventually being conscripted into the Guard during a founding. Antunes spent the next decade serving in the Argive 954th, making his way through the ranks until he eventually became a Captain. It was around this point that his rivalries with his superiors and colleagues started to seriously harm his career. Halward's propensity to hold grudges and obsession with following every single rule of the book eventually left him devoid of friends and allies. With glories, promotions and reward that should be rightfully his being passed on to others. And so the then Captain soon found himself growing increasingly frustrated and bitter at the state of his life. Until eventually the 954th was forced to disband due to losses, being absorbed by a larger unit. With the exception of Captain Antunes, who was “gifted” with the command position of a newly raised regiment. Hope soon turned to anger however, when the Colonel realized he was to lead a Penal Legion. But finding no way to gain another commission, Hawlard merely added the latest slight to his long mental list of grudges and decided to turn the sorry mass of convicts into a regiment worthy of his leadership. And maybe eventually restore his tarnished career. After all, Lord General Hawlard does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Equipment/weapons: Carapace armor, bolt pistol, power mace General Staff Name: Shirvi Farzbard Rank: Major Equipment: Scavenged carapace plate, flak armor, laspistol, chainsword, Personality/Bio: Ambitious and ruthless, Major Farzbard was a Captain of the 284th Jahangir Mechanized Janissaries, until her involvement in an extensive smuggling and corruption network was revealed. Sent to Tiparinga as punishment, the former Captain jumped at the chance to return to the field and out of the humid green hellhole that was the prison colony. Initially a mere Sergeant, Farzbard rose quickly through the ranks thanks to her previous experience in leading mechanized units and the incompetence of her superiors, most of which had bought their commissions. Now the second in command of the regiment, she has surrounded herself with men and women loyal to herself first and has settled in nicely as one of the regiment's power brokers. So far the Major has built up a cordial working relationship with Colonel Hawlard. Bonding over the perceived insults and injustices against them and their military past. The Colonel enjoys having someone with experience as his second in command and the Major prefers an actual veteran officer leading the regiment instead of someone who merely bought the position. Like Colonel Halward, Major Farzbard has bought the idea of turning the 64th into “The Best”. Unlike the Colonel however, Major Farzbard's ambitions are focused on lining her own pockets and retiring alive and rich. Name: Vladslav Torchari Rank: Commissar Equipment: Chainsword, bolt pistol, carapace plate. Personality/Bio: A sorry excuse of a Commissar for a sorry excuse of a regiment. Cadet Torchari was never the sharpest tool in the shed, nor the brightest student of the Schola Progenium in Aramand VII. Too indolent, lazy and prone to mistakes for the tastes of his tutors, the young Cadet was a common fixture in the punishment rooms and demonstrations of the Schola. Vladislav always managed to straddle the thin line between mere punishment and expulsion from the Schola, never actually being bad enough to merit too harsh a punishment. When he graduated there was little doubt as to where assign the newly-minted Commissar Cadet Torcharian was sent to the 64th under the tutelage of Commissar Matias Bolange, another equally derided Commissar. Over the next five years Torchari learned from his mentor and adapted to his new reality as a Penal Commissar. A task surprisingly easier than expected despite the penal nature of the regiment. In most part thanks to the previous military background of the rank and file, the strong faith in the Emperor of most guardsmen and the ethos of proving themselves shared by the unit. When Commissar Bolange died, the newly minted Commissar easily assumed his role within the regiment and continued his mentor's work philosophy of letting the little things slide while also making examples of the worst offenders.
