[@NarcissisticPotato] The schools have been around for generations and generations, hence the names of the Academies(lol) but your abilities does not have to be passed down from a parent or from your characters parents. Example: Bobby from X-Men though someone carried the gene somewhere down the line in the descendant family line and skipped at least two generations before suddenly falling onto him. Think of this as X-Men Academy, or something of that nature.
