Or at least it was as far as Callum P. Summers was concerned. The energetic youth had plans for the summer, BIG plans, all of which were going to be fun. So fun in fact that he had struggled to drag himself through the last few days of school, with mediocre grades and problems chomping at his heels there had been no chance of him escaping early...but as soon as school ended they were washed from his mind, he was free! And had shouted as much -in a Mel Gibson manner- as soon as he'd been released from school. Now it was the morning of the day he'd been looking forward to, the sun was out, the birds were chirping, the old man across the street was shouting abuse, the neighbour was mowing his lawn, the kids were skating in the street...and Callum? Well, Callum wasn't in the land of the 'living' as such, yet. "He's dead, I'm telling you" Aaliyah folded her arms across her chest and rolled her eyes at her sister. Who had decided to use a baseball bat to poke at the lump beneath her brother's bed covers. "Maybe mom will give me his room...once it's been fumigated" Aaliyah screwed her nose up and kicked a dirty t-shirt away from her feet. "He's not dead, he's still breathing...pretty sure dead people don't breathe" Buffy told her, giving the lump a hard jab with the bat. "OW!" With a howl, Callum launched himself upright, throwing off his covers and scaring the bejeebers out of his sisters. Aaliyah screamed and hid behind Buffy who yelped and swung the baseball bat at Callum, battering him off of the bed. "Yeouch! Jeez, what the hell was that for?!" He groaned, clutching his abused arm and scowling at his sisters. "I thought you were a zombie..." Buffy shrugged. "What? Why?" Callum yawned getting to his feet and rubbing his eyes. "...it's half 10" Buffy answered, pointing at the digital clock on Callum's crowded night stand. "What does that have to do with anything? Why are you two even in here? You'll upset the cockroaches" Callum grumbled. "Cockroaches!? Hell no! Bee you didn't tell me about that! I'm out of here, no way, too much!" Aaliyah squeaked, holding her hands out and hopping her way to the door, careful not to tread on anything on her way out. "...can't believe that still works-ow!" Callum jolted as Buffy tossed the baseball bat into his arms. "10.30 Callum, 1st of May. Consider my debt repaid" She told him, skirting around some dirty laundry and disappearing into the hallway. "10.30, 1st of May..." Callum yawned dropping the bat down onto his bed and scratching his head. His thought processes were not the fastest in the world, especially first thing in the morning, it took him at least another 30 seconds and three repetitions of the information before it finally clicked in his mind. "Argh! Why didn't you wake me earlier?!" He shouted at his door, before he begun crashing around his room in a mad bid to get himself ready. Fastest shower on record - check! All towels stolen from the bathroom by annoying sisters - check! Mum to the rescue - check! Clean clothes retrieved and put on - check! Bag found and packed - W.I.P "Ma! Have you seen my bag?" Callum called before sticking his head in the cupboard under the stairs to rifle through its contents. It was nearly 11 and Callum couldn't remember if he'd even packed a bag. Knowing Callum P. Summers, the chance that he'd packed it was slim and the chance of him even finding it was slimmer still. "In the hallway honey" Came his mothers response "By the door" Callum pulled his head out of the cupboard and looked at the front door. Sat by his shoes was the red King Kong duffel bag that he'd been looking for. "Bingo!" He grinned and jogged over to it he stuffed his feet into his Nike sneakers before grabbing his bag. Which to his surprise was heavy, suggesting that he had in fact remembered to pack everything the night before. "Got it! I'm going now!" He bellowed, letting the entire house -and possibly the neighbours- know that he was leaving as he grabbed the door handle. "Callum!" He glanced over his shoulder at his mum as she came out of the kitchen and jangled his keys at him "Keys?"Grinning from ear to ear, Callum trotted over to her and plucked the keys from her fingers, before he gave her a quick peck on the cheek and mumbled "Thanks Mom". "Have fun! And don't forget to call every so often!" His mother called after him as he high tailed it out of the door. "Will do, bye!" Was his response as he slammed the door closed and rushed over to his old jeep. Slinging his bag into the back seat, he hopped into the drivers side and pulled his sunglasses on. "Alright Cal, kick on the tunes and get this summer started!"
Callum had been buzzed about spending the summer with his friends at Elizabeth's place, pretty much since it had first been mentioned. He was in such a good mood he was convinced nothing could change it, even Alyx. He'd remembered agreeing to pick her up on the way over to Elizabeth's which was a plus. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten to warn her, he was running late. When he did finally pull up outside her house, he had his music whacked up unnecessarily high and rushed her into the car, well he tried to. Whether it worked or not was entirely up to Alyx, it was painfully obvious that the longer it took for her to settle into the car the more agitated Callum became. As soon as he heard the click of her seatbelt, he was off down the road. The actual drive to the estate was a bit of a blur, Callum's eagerness to get them there had warped his opinion on speed limits just a little, so the journey wasn't as long as it should have been. It had still given Alyx plenty of time to take control of the radio and shoot insults at him, all of which he'd reacted to. By the time they'd reached the estate, he was struggling to think up decent come backs or insults of his own. "Ha! We made it and in record time too" He announced as the old jeep pulled into the driveway(?). Now that they were here, he did have the sense to ease up on the throttle and drove slowly down to the house. "Now what do you think of my driving skills?" He asked with a smirk, not bothering to hide the fact that he was clearly impressed with himself even if Alyx wasn't. Parking up next to Loki's car, he released his seatbelt and pulled himself up between the roof bars so he could get a better view of the house and shout out a greeting to the two siblings by the door "Yo, Loki! Rose!"
