Angelo looked at her as if he was seeing some monster that looked like Ethel but wasn't her. She wanted to duel Angelo and she even challenged him which was completely out of character for her. Her supposed bet just meant that Angelo would still be paid either way and if he won he would get a bonus for his job. Since Angelo had no prior engagements to deal with he decided he would indulge her. 

Angelo got up and started to head to the track where he was directed by the professor to go to the outside track. Angelo put on his own suit. He made sure to change his deck before meeting up with her outside the changing rooms.
