While he tends to avoid speaking directly about the past aside from a few short factual sentences, the knight is not afraid to hand out advice using obvious examples from his own life. The Champion feels that he has sinned in the past, and tries to live a life of chivalry and honor to redeem himself. Despite his best efforts, the knight believes he has failed to uphold them. He refuses to drink, and frowns upon others who do so. If a time of extreme stress were to happen though ... perhaps he would fail himself again. When it comes to fighting, the man is a team player. Having fought in many large scale engagements, he believes that personal valor holds a very small sway in the course of any sizeable conflict. Logistics, planning, and training are far more important. If a combat is seemingly lost, retreating is an honorable option. If a sacrafice must be made to secure the greater outcome, he will do so reluctantly. Magic makes the man clearly uncomfortable, despite having the power to control it. Unknown uses of it make him suspicious and wary, and some types of it cause him to break down. [b]History::[/b] Haine doesn't like to reveal a lot about his life. However, the following details can be gathered after a few insistent conversations and implications from his 'lessons'. The man originated from a small town in the Kingdom of Bellum, a nation far to the east of Fiore. A series of brief wars occurred throughout his youth, first taking his parents and then himself onto the field. Trained as a man-at-arms from a young mage, he was better equipped than many of the levies. Despite his training, mages on both sides of the field were a major force, and fighting a high ranking one felt like challenging a god-utterly futile. Many of the fellow warriors from his town succumbed to them in fighting, and the man grew to despise them, revere them, and seek their deaths. For his service in combat he was granted several empty awards and Custos, his shield. Eventually, a fireball took the life of his father. Haine's mother soon followed, although the man refuses to discuss how. Despite this, he was married afterwards to his childhood sweetheart. More small conflicts happened, more friends died, an estate granted to him, more fighting, more awards. Eventually news of a child brought him home from the field. The child had magical powers. Haine began to drink. A lot. Details afterwards become scarce, but a few things are clear now. Haine's wife is no longer with him, the child is no where to be seen, and the man has travelled many miles away from his former home. Based on his age and lack of ability with his magic, it is something new to the knight. A few months ago, the warrior stumbled into Golem's hand, seeking to work the guildmaster. The guildmaster seemed relieved that someone else over the age of thirty had decided to join, and soon he found himself working and training his newfound abilities, sharing advice with the youths as well. [h2]Magic[/h2] [b]Magic Name::[/b] Mana Draw [b]Description::[/b] This magic makes it difficult for the caster to produce any effects of their own, but allows him to redirect any 'mass' of magic summoned by another caster. [b]Known Spells::[/b] Custos Praesidio - Acting as a shield for the rest of his team, Haine can draw anything powered by mana towards any part of himself. Spells with little mass like a fireball or a beam of light are completely drawn off their course, whereas spells involving objects of a larger mass such as someone launching a boulder are only redirected slightly. Secare Ferro - Although just learning how to manipulate magic, the knight is training himself to redirect magic behind his blade to add to a more powerful stroke. As of now, this is too inconsitent in results to be useful in practical combat. [h2]Other[/h2] [b]Relatives::[/b] Missing Wife and Child, Any members of distant family are in Bellum. [b]Posseions::[/b] Custos - A small heater shield designed to dissapate any magical effects that contact it. Made of a lightweight but nigh unbreakable material, this is his primary defense against magic. Plate Armor that has been well fitted to his body. 20 gauge in most places, although his helm is thicker. A small armory of weapons, usually found carrying a broadsword, dagger, and mace.
