Isamu comes from a normal civilian family. He's first person to decide to become a ninja; the rest of his family had chosen to become artisans of some variety. They're very supportive of his decision, and wish the best of him. He has an older brother.

Isamu has his mother's golden-brown eyes and his father's stony gray hair. He's very unexceptional in regards to his build, being fairly average all about. He doesn't bear any scars, but his hands are rather calloused for someone of his age.

Isamu is a free spirit who doesn't really try to act more grown up than he is. Outgoing, reliable and jolly, he's the kind of guy who can laugh all day, even at himself. So it's isn't very surprising that he's an idealist who doesn't yet understand the inherent unreasonableness of the world and stubbornly holds on to his naivete. However, though he is rather wet behind the ears, he's not at all a very bold or brave person. Rather, if he isn't ignorant of the situation, he often assumes a more worried demeanor; it definitely wouldn't be wrong to call him a peace-loving coward. Indeed, his caring personality is both one his best and worst qualities. Although the rough life of a shinobi might seem incompatible with him, he cares about people more than he's scared of the dangers. In that respect, he embodies the dual persona of a brave coward.
