I think Selene's encounter with Mags did a number on her. She already had a morphed view on cults, aggressors, and things of the dark zone, so this meeting probably pushed her further into hatred. This will work well with my private subplot for her. I feel like the Guardians would have considered the Eidolon contained by mags herself, even if she is protecting it.
