This bit you are quite correct, those with jobs [i]need[/i] to do their jobs. Hence why those picking staff were careful in their selection process, they didn't outright go "Okay no Gay/Trans people. We don't want them."

That I shall leave up to the medical personnel (if people apply as them), as remember getting people onto the ship will have been hard as it is. You have the recruitment process, and then you have to try and convince them to leave everything they know and love to go into the unknown, all they will know is that their loved ones will die. Then the ships brand new, gotta get it up to scratch.

On the topic of babies, test tube babies are a [i]possibility[/i] but remember these people have no idea how long they're going to be on the Ark, hence the frozen people. For all they know by the time they make planet fall they may be too old to have babies.
