How is this?

Equipment: The Gungnir system has two parts. The main segment is the rather hefty silver pistol that hangs at Hikaru's side. The majority of the system's functions reside within the gun, however in order for it to work properly a visual display is needed. To allow for ease of use both in and outside of battle a pair of glasses are wirelessly connected to the feed from the main weapon.

Abilities: The Gungnir system is an attempt to recreate the accuracy of the mythical spear by tapping into the same True Wisdom that Odin does. It has several fire modes, Normal, Armor Piercing, Ricochet, Machine Gun, Explosive, Tracking and Net. The amount of mana that each shot uses can be adjusted on the fly through voice commands, although a base level normal shot will use one percent of a full charge. As a Sacrifice Cauldron the weapon takes small iron ingots inserted into the handle and converts them to mana. In addition, it can allow the wearer of it's glasses to see using a limited form of True Wisdom. Due to mana and hardware reasons the wearer is limited to seeing three vision modes at a time.

I know you seem to think that a power that's not actively combat related is rather useless in a combat RPG, but give me the benefit of the doubt.

I've been RPing for years now, both here and offsite. I know what I'm doing.

It's more that combining them actually makes them more useful. I'll have a quick talk with Rain when I get the chance and we'll have this sorted out.

@Silvan Haven: Alright, the power is fine. However, drawing on Gungnir would only work if the Divine Gear was a spear. Also, as a Divine Gear, it needs no sacrifices.

Also, homing's a little redundant with the vision modes.

@Caasicam ... I'm drawing the line. Don't post in second person. This is neither a CYOA nor a literary contest.

You might want to choose some other place to go, too. Not everyone needs to pile into one room. >_>;

It seems logical that those seeking to prepare for the tournament would seek the location of the simulator rooms.

Why this one, and why is nobody just closing the door and carrying on? At some point verisimilitude has to bow to the idea of making a scene too cluttered with players. xD

I have a question. Since we apparently don't have much protective gear against the Divine Gears and we can seriously harm or kill someone... then if I use explosive arrows, won't it like... blow off a part of their body or something?

I mean, second person was Crimmy's idea (sorry man), though I can use the usual if needed.

As for the training room, I had no intention of keeping her there; just wanted to introduce her around some other characters rather than not.

2nd person's a pretty solid perspective anyway. Criminally underused.

It has good uses and bad uses, 'just for the sake of it' is a bad use. While I can see a few situations in a roleplay where briefly writing in second person would help, it's honestly out of place here.

I suppose it helps that the students have mostly been told 'please leave' so they'll break up soon. Just... please use third person, or first if you really want to.

@Polaris North: It's very easy NOT to kill someone using it. I haven't fully fleshed out the specifics but there's probably quite simply a way to work things nonlethally, but where someone could be much more seriously injured if things suddenly were to go awry. I guess... think Nanoha or something, if you've seen it, where you can totally do things like this without seriously injuring someone but when things go out of control it can get worse.

@Caasicam: As for the perspective matter, um, second person is legitimately kind of confusing to read. ^^; Which I think probably is why it's underused, outside of stuff like CYOAs. You can head to the training room, but the group's dispersing and you'll just run into one of the people leaving most likely.

@banjoanjo: There's multiple training rooms.

@Slendy: Tattoos are not a ritual device. ^^;

Characters in Nanoha also happen to have Barrier Jackets the majority of the time, and Nanoha herself is very good at calculating the necessary force required to exert. Besides, even she got impaled by that Scaglietti drone that crippled her Linker Core.

Second person tends to be highly similar to third person most of the time. It's actually far less of a radical shift in perspective than 3rd and 1st; in fact, at times it's pretty much limited 3rd person with differing pronouns. Not particularly hard to understand, although it is highly unorthodox due to the fact that limited 3rd person can do its job with little difficulty.

I mean in that it's possible to leave someone with only light injury in setting, you don't actually have to make your attacks lethal. Also, the attack didn't cripple her linker core, it left her crippled and needing physical therapy and time to recover to get back to normal. Since her linker core is pretty clearly working at 100% in StrikerS. ^^;

In any case, I mean this as the sort of thing that comes up in a lot of anime or manga with some sort of magitech system. It doesn't have to be lethal, but it completely can be.

Nah, her Linker Core was crippled. It works in StrikerS, but she'll never reach the power level of her post-As/pre-StrikerS self ever again.

Oh yeah, @Raineh Daze, Cloacina's reference to Jen as a barbarian is perfectly accurate. She's an Anglo-Saxon, a descendant of the Germanic foederati that was subsidised by Rome to fight its wars. Roman Britain was a thing, of course, but it the Romano-Britons aren't the English, really. The Saxons only began to move into Britain after the decline of the Empire.

It's like calling the Turkish having been Roman citizens just because they now reside in Anatolia, which was one of the richer areas of the Empire.
