Welcome to Oars Rest, your Gateway to Edea!
Edea is a large, mostly unexplored continent that has recently been discovered. The kingdoms and countries of the continent of Ailon all have an interest in exploiting this new continent for their own reasons, especially the Baumn Empire and Caededril Republic. However, the Edea continent is vast, unexplored, and teeming with wildlife and other creatures. Needless to say, it's not exactly a pretty or safe place. That's where you adventurers come in! You're here to explore this new continent, and deal with all of its perils. Your reason for doing so? Well, that's for you to decide. Adventure itself, the potential to find riches, maybe even a scholarly interest in this new continent and possible civilizations that exist here. And as, with all adventures you have to start somewhere. Oars Rest is a quaint little town constructed by the Baumn Empire and Caededril republic as a Neutral zone after their recent war for exploration of Edea. This has been going on for almost five years, and many adventurers travel inland, though few of these ever return. Those who do, often return with riches or information about what lays ahead for other adventurers.
This is a dungeon crawler/Etrian Odyssey Inspired RP. I will be playing the world, creatures, NPC encounters, and other misc. creatures that your characters may or may not encounter. I shall also play a character, if needed for whatever reason but for the most part, I shall be playing god and making all of your characters lives [s]miserable[/s] the most exciting they can possibly be~ I'm looking to keep this to a smallish group. At most, I'll be willing to have eight people at once, and those will be split into two different adventuring groups of four people, which will go on separate, yet simultaneous adventures and who will often likely cross paths, and either hinder or help the other group. The RP is going to focus a lot on character interaction & Development, Adventure, and Combat. There will be down time of course, for characters to rest and properly recuperate and for some good character interaction to develop.
~Magic~

Magic indeed exists in Edea and Ailon, and comes in many different forms. Most often, in the Baumn empire it's used for more militaristic purposes. They teach combat magic to complement their soldiers on the field. Caededril, uses their for more commercial purposes. Often reinforcing their weapons and armor to increase their soldiers effectiveness through indirect means if it comes to fighting. That said, there are many forms of magic known in the world. Feel free to make your own, so long as it's properly balanced. Feel free to get creative and think of unconventional magics. As far as enchanting something goes, it's basically giving an item permanent magical abilities. Most items can hold one or two enchantments at most, though, and its difficult to stack a second one on something that's already enchanted. Examples are: "Adds fire effects to weapon by heating the blade" "Increases the strength of the user" "Increases Durability"

~More Lore~

Huh? You want...more? Well, then...why don't you make it yourself? The continent of Ailon is vast and large, and the Baumn Empire and Caededril Republic are only two tiny empires in the grand scheme of things. Much of the continent from their borders still house small city-states as well as countless tribes of people. Who knows? Maybe there's another empire or something out there, just a few kilometers away from their borders that recently cropped up during their recent war. As far as races go, they are as numerous as stars in the sky, though humans are the most populous of people. Feel free to go crazy with the races - within reason - just run it by me first. Point is, I'm not going to create a bunch of hard lore here - I'm going to leave that up to you guys when you make your characters. As long as it's reasonable, just run it by me and I'll let you have whatever you want so long as it's not some sort of OP thing and it makes sense.
~CS~

Name: Fairly self explanatory. No strict rules on this. Race: It can literally be anything you want, so long as you give yourself sufficient lore and history behind your race's backstory and is nothing OP. Or, if you want, you can just leave it ambiguous and just give your character a reason for being in Oars Rest. If you want to use a custom race, or tweak an existing fantasy race in some manner, it'd probably be a good idea to run the specifics by me before we start. Try to keep everything consistent as well. Age: I think 18-24 is a good range for our characters. Gender: Male or Female? Genderless space blob? Appearance: Physical appearance. Picture along with at least a paragraph of description is recommended, otherwise, just go with really detailed written description. Clothing/Armor: Any armor/clothing your character wears. Describe its basic appearance and generally how effective it is. Keep in mind, you're more or less novice adventurers here. No super strong or durable armor able to shrug off attacks for no reason. At least, not yet of course. Also list any perhaps, magical effects the armor has on it. To start with, I'm limiting this to one enchantment (Magical effect) to start with. Personality Try to make it at least a paragraph. Include how they view the world, and how they will usually initially interact with others. Don't skimp on this. History: Not all that important in this setting. Just where they grew up, how they acquired their skills and why they're in Oars Rest now, and their motivations for exploring be it fame, money, running from something...it can be anything really. Just make sure you include it. I would like at least two well written paragraphs. Weapons: What weapons does your character normally carry with them? Keep it realistic please, and remember to keep it simple to start with. Does your character use a sword? Axe? Hammer? Spear? Maybe a mage who uses a tome to augment and cast their spells? Perhaps something unconventional? As long as you can make it work effectively in some manner, you can have it. Limited to one enchantment as well. Physical Skills: Any physical abilities your character might have, and what their skilled in. Limit this to three to begin with. Examples are -Swordsmanship - the character has training with a sword, and has practiced with one most of his life. -Quick on his feet - forgoing the use of a shield and heavy armor, the character makes use of superior agility to dodge and parry attacks rather than take a hit. -Eagle Eye - The character has extremely good eyesight, and is able to see things others normally wouldn't, and maybe even to tell where a weak point on a creature is, if one exists. Magic: Any magical abilities your character has. limit to three to begin with, and be realistic with this. A character using a sword or other melee weapon, is likely going to not know any magic to begin with, and if they do their swordsmanship wouldn't be as good as someone who solely focused on the sword, and likewise their magic would likely suffer in raw power. Keep in mind though, magic can be almost anything you want it to be so long as its balanced. Weaknesses: Keep in mind, your character also needs weaknesses of some sort. Perhaps their heavier armor slows them down? Maybe they fight with a bow, and aren't to skilled at close combat? Just keep this realistic, please, and the more descriptive and more of these you have, the more I might be willing to let your magic and physical abilities be a little above average. just keep in mind that these must be kept to. Of course with time though, they could grow out of more skill-based weaknesses like that bow user being unskilled at hand-to-hand combat. Other Inventory: Anything else you have on your person? Alcohol? Drinks?

~Rules~ 1. I will be keeping a strict posting schedule. As in, I want at least one post every two days. This is a rule I am going to heavily enforce and keep track of. If the timer above your last post reaches two days, then you'll receive a warning and your character will be on auto pilot so things don't get slowed down until you return. Two offenses of this, result in immediate ban from the RP. If you must be absent for some reason, tell me. I'm not going to kick you for some emergency or other reason. 2. I am the GM. You may call me [s]Overlord[/s] Rune. My word is also law here. Any disputes OOCly will be settled by me and me alone if you can't settle it yourselves. I will try and be fair, but do try not to escalate something to the point where I have to intervene. 3. This, admittedly isn't going to be the most realistic of RP's. As in, there will likely at some point be big-ass anime fights with explosions and stuff like that. However, if your character gets injured, I expect that to factor into their actions and such in some way. No walking away from getting stabbed in the heart, kiddos without some really, really, good and heavy healing magic. 4. Any sexy stuff needs to fade to black. Or take it to the PMs. I don't care what you all do in your free time~ 5. REMEMBER. One post every two days! I am going to be strictly enforcing this rule no matter what. I don't care how much someone complains. I am also going to try my best to keep to this rule. I won't expect posts during major holidays or if something major comes up, but otherwise you should try and keep to the rule.
