A full on traditional dragon would be to op for the start of the adventure, the draconic lizardman form is strong enough. Plus he can still use that lizardman form for his skills with weaponry, eventually at least. His awakened form won't, but instead of being able to use weapons hes bigger, stronger, more firepower andddd he can fly so..I mean yeah thats a nice trade off if I do say so myself.
