Not really "settlements" per se, just large swathes of territory that they hordes wander around on for their herds to graze. It's hard for me to say where this is without seeing anybody else on the map. A big chunk of this land along the border of the mountains would be their stronghold and initial point of entry, and from there there might be other pockets of land scattered in nearby areas that they've successfully conquered and retained control over.

My history isn't specific about exactly what was conquered, so you have creative license to draw the lines as you imagine they might look.

I like gold. Can you give me a vibrant golden color on the map, like the golden fields of grass swaying on the windswept steppes? :lol
