[@Prince of Seraphs] I have an idea for a second character except they aren't one character but are one entity due to the glitch. I ask because it might be a headache to those who don't know the characters, that and they don't have much background as most of them are just arcade characters or used as enemy fodder. Basically, I really miss the Timesplitters series so I thought I could do something like that but instead of one character they change forms because of the glitch. Most don't have a personality because they appear in Arcade modes instead of a story. I have a feeling it is no because it is too complex but I thought I would ask. They have no powers, well a few might but nothing that makes them OP or anything. Also, TS is the best FPS of the Xbox, PS2 and GC era in my opinion and no one can sway me from that. They are my most played games on the GC. Basically, it went TS:FP, TS2, Melee, and then TOS.
Maybe try rephrasing that so I can understand. It might be a yes but I honestly have very little idea what you are asking.
I was considering doing the sole survivor from Fallout 4, Same realm as [@ClocktowerEchos]'s six. I am asking both [@Prince of Seraphs] if he minds two different characters from the same series, But I am also asking [@ClocktowerEchos] if (she?) they would feel off put for not being the only falloutian in the world. Is more the merrier or would either of you prefer something else?
I have no problem with multiple characters from a single title though if ClocktowerEchos does it might be best that you pick a different character. There are certain rules for same title characters though. They're pretty simple. It basically goes like this. When the virus in the VR sim occurred each character would be essentially created at whatever point the player was at in their game. However there wasn't a single copy of each game running, depending on popularity there could have been hundreds of copies of a single game active at the time of the virus. So unless two characters from the same game are also from the exact same play through (The most likely scenario being friends playing the game together) then they would essentially be from an alternate timeline version of the same game. In most cases this would basically look like one character having amnesia to a certain degree if for instance you had the protagonist from one game taken from chapter 3 and his right hand man taken from chapter 27 it would appear to the right hand man that the protagonist has lost his memory. It becomes a bit more complicated with choose your own path style games as this could mean two character from the same game having completely different relationships with one another depending on what they consider to have happened in their own universe. @Everyone This also means one other thing that is rather important. Theoretically there could be multiple versions of the same characters scattered throughout the Video Game World. For the sake of limiting infighting and confusion I don't want two different players to take up the same character but do bear this in mind for the future as it could end up having a serious impact. @Everyone Another thing. Everyone is going to be required to choose a place in the game of their character at which point the virus occurred. This will be the starting point for your character, what they were doing just previous to the virus going active. For instance for my Terra her starting point begins seconds after Kefka moved the Warring Triad out of alignment throwing the world into chaos. Since I've had to ask people to amend their CSes with new categories far too often anyone who has already created a CS doesn't have to include this category but I will be adding it to the OP for new players. If you wish to add it for the sake of keeping everything straight you are more than welcome to do so but since it is a personal character choice and not something I have to approve it is not required for me to know. Though if anyone shares a game title with another player they may want to discuss this among themselves.
Also, I had a suggestions/question: This is the blend of a thousand different video games I think some forms of standardization might be needed regarding cross-genre equipment. From 8-bit to 8-Gb, things went from 'bullets' to '.45 handgun armor piercing rounds (-30% enemy armor)'. I'm just wondering if/how characters are going to re-equip themselves? As you said, there are no fairy ponds in lagos' world of portal tests. This actually comes from a gripe I had in mass effect where there was not actual 'bullets' in the game but shooting slivers of metal from a bar of material used for 'clips at high speeds. A universal weapon system still had separate thermal clips for pistol to sniper rifle. Super future and still no unified 'ammo' system for game balancing purposes. :P My next question comes from the idea of a silly 'cracked' video where characters get weapons from other games. What if we get items from other video game worlds?
Items, weapons and to a slight degree abilities will change depending on the Video Game environment our characters happen to be in at the time. While in the 16-bit Dinosaur Land of Super Mario World a Super Mushroom would cause a character to grow larger. Once brought into a non-Mario related video game world such an item would have a different through related effect such as granting temporarily increased strength or durability. Guns brought into an 8-bit world would behave something akin to the fire flowers or simple projectile weapons of said game. The functionality of items will follow a basic trend, a gun always shoots but it will vary in execution depending on what world you happen to be in at the time.
Regarding death, we could easily have 1-up mushrooms or phoenix downs and they might be exceedingly prized treasures but still a staple reward. Perhaps they form as a non-transferable tattoo that 'binds on contact' on the arm when acquired or a limit of no more than 1 per person. Otherwise you would have Ganon sending envoys of minions to buy 999 Phoenix downs.
The players collectively decided that permadeath would be best suited for this RP. With that in mind any item from a game that is used to revive dead comrades will instead be simply a very powerful healing item. Ones of such power that they are capable of healing fatal wounds but once you experience physical death there is nearly no way to reverse it. There will be a handful of very rare and very hard to use magicks that can revive the dead under certain conditions however these are always costly. For example Terra, if she uses all of her energy, leading to her own death she can revive a single recently deceased person. As for the healing items since they are quite potent they will become increasingly difficult to find and be limited to one per person.
