His family and the people he care about hold the biggest space in his heart, and though he usually comes off as standoffish and serious at first he is an intensely caring person once he gets close to someone. Manual labor is his forte and he always strives to perfect his craft. He can be a lighthearted, jokey, sarcastic, laidback person most of the time but tends to appear very serious and withdrawn.[/indent]

[indent]Gabriel grew up in a poor, but tight-knit family of laborers and mechanics. When Port Hope was a new and up and coming place, his parents moved there to help service the spacecrafts that came and went. He was born into the trade and was welding almost before he could walk. For a long time life was simple, he helped out his neighbors with minor repairs that they needed around their homes and turned tricks for cash in his later teen years. Gabriel had a small circle of very close friends, especially one in particular; Abby. They spent nearly every free moment together, everyone knew that they were practically glued to the hip.
And then Abby was dead. Her death disrupted life in their usually quiet district, rumors and speculations flew from one neighbor to the next. The only thing that everyone knew for sure is that Gabriel had been arrested and hauled off just after his seventeenth birthday, and no one from home was ever able to hear from him what had happened. They had no idea how anyone could suspect [i]Gabriel[/i] of murder, but the insistence of the Inquisitors on the allegations against him- he was the last person to have seen her, it was a crime of passion?- started to fill their minds with doubt.[/indent]
