Time to be that gem geek guy again...Emeralds are not green sapphires. Sapphire refers to any corundum that is not red. Emerald is a variety of beryl, like aquamarine, morganite and heliodor (not to be confused with heliotrope, another name for bloodstone, which is a variety of chalcedony.)
