Emeralds are, theoretically,  incredibly impressionable, and will likely believe anything from someone who can pass as "caring"(whether it be true or manipulative). However, the only characteristic all Emeralds truly share is that they are uncharacteristic.
 
For this reason, and for their general status as crazy unpredictable lab rats, Emeralds are sort of a species of outcasts, and tend to be used in ways that could be seen as inhumane if it were on a [i]real[/i] gem(what with the gem caste system and all). In short, they could probably be groomed to be anything from a diplomat to a guard dog. 

However, if left to their own devices, they either become broken(not literally) piles of insanity, or more like OC Emerald. More of their own person.
