[@Loony] The way I see it is that Gembone has better senses all around while Topaz has just better hearing that's on par with Gembone for the most part, the difference being the focusing part. When focused, Topaz could hear things that no other gem was meant to hear. Topaz could even hear someone whispering in a soundproof room just by standing next to the door.
