Maddie eye her opponent, a lump forming in her throat as her heart felt like it was about to burst from her chest. She was more worried about failing her evaluation than anything else, and she would be extremely ashamed of herself if Mr. Kessinger thought any less of her because of it. As she got up on the platform, she made every attempt possible to remain calm, wanting to avoid being perceived as a soft target. Unfortunately for Maddie, that much seemed to be true about her as her eyes widened. She was barely able to get into a proper stance before her opponent made the first move, spreading its arms to surround her with a wall of fire. She could have sworn it smirked at her as it flicked its wrist and the wall closed in on her at an alarming speed. But Maddie was quick on her feet, sinking down to the ground on one knee and stretching out her arms to either side of her to clear the fire about to burn her alive. Even though Maddie reacted fairly quickly, she took a small hit, the fire reddening her cheeks and forehead. Her involvement in this fight was far from over, though. She cleared out whatever trace of fire was around her and with a wave of her opposite arm, she thrust a spear at her opponent, hoping to hell it would penetrate its torso. If that move went in her favor, her opponent would get stabbed in the chest, one end of the fiery spear sticking out its back as the winged tip extended to secure her opponent in place before she would forcibly pull him toward her to inflict major damage against it.
