This way she could react to any of them if they turned towards her. Even the ones behind her, she made sure to keep a sharp ear out for them. Don't trust him. Surely it was on everyone's mind. They were thinking of who was going to betray them. They might thyink it was Anri, but if only they knew that Anri was no man... No, she was a girl, surely... But then they hit a dead end. Anri couldn't remember right now if there was suppose to be a wall here or not; this place was so messed up that Anri would hardly call it her old school anymore. And at this point, she wouldn't be surprised if monsters were screwing with them and using illusions and trickery to slow them down. What what Relly caught Anri's attention was the altar. It was pretty, gilded in some sort of shiny metal that was either white or gold. Hard to tell in this light. But what she did notice was the drawings. Little stick people in crayons, most of them marked out except one. Anri could tell it was her. Suddenly memories flooded into Anri's mind. Of a time long before, where she was just a small boy. She remembered looming shadowy figures, smashing her into the ground. Tearing at her. They grabbed her and tossed her around, beating and ripping at her body. Their talons dug into her flesh like needles, but ripped from her bones like the claws of a great beast. A pair of teeth bite down onto her neck and ripped out her throat, making her unable to scream. Another set of teeth went between her legs, and started eating her alive. It was all pain and suffering, until... Until... Until she found her light. Anri's light flicked open, and a small white flame was produced. She reached out towards the picture on the alter, bringing it closer to her childish portrait. "Things are so much prettier when they burn." Just a tilt. Just a tilt of her lighter, and Anri set fire to the portrait with a smile on her face.
