[@DarkwolfX37] Currently, the group is in a place up in the hills of Harlan County, KY called "Noble's Holler". The mine shaft is like just outside the main community of Noble's, more or less. (There was no specific placement for the mine, but you get the idea). There's really only one road in and out of Nobles. The distance between Buckhead (Atlanta), GA and where the group is currently is probably like a 6 hour drive, or so Google Maps tells me :)
In that case... Let's see... Three maps, triangulate the epicenter... Carry the negative four... Got it. Thankies.
That's about 400 km/248 miles... The closest out of state hub city is Charlotte NC... That's 361 km/224 miles from Buckhead, 300 km/187 miles to Harlan County... That leaves Asheville as the most reasonable stop along the way at 158 km/98 miles from Charlotte, a further 106 km/66 miles to Kingsport, and 71 km/44 miles to Harlan County... I have come to a stunning conclusion. Violet would need a vehicle to travel this distance in a short enough time for it to be plausible. If we assume she travels at 50 mph on average... That's 2, 48, 1, 24, 1 so 76 in total. If she leaves at 8 am, she'll get there at noon three days later. That gives plenty of time. Two weeks plus the IC time that's passed should be plenty of time for a certifiable genius and several other college students she's in contact with to have figured out what I planned her to already know. Five days for stage one, three for stage two, six plus the two stops making 8 for stage three and planning for stage four... Plus however much time has passed IC to actually get there? Perfect. Not only is it plenty of time to make it plausible and realistic (as realistic as a character like her can be, anyway) but I can probably fit in a little extra training for her too if enough time has passed IC.
