this made me laugh but also reminded me of something super interesting: how we actually learn from rolemodels (good or bad) and storytelling.  there's this tv producer, sabido, who uses storytelling as a way to push social change--he created a soap opera in tanzania and, using characters as role models to reinforce or discourage certain behavior, he basically changed cultural attitudes around HIV and population growth--he helped dispel HIV/AID myths, increase condom use and approval for family planning methods. thats fucking amazing!!
