As the heir to his father's fortune, he was always under watch by their estate's staff to ensure nothing happened to him. This lead to him sneaking out whenever he could, often in some sort of disguise to prevent people from recognizing him. He would often hang out with kids who came from poorer sections of the city, which fueled his distaste for his lifestyle even more. Why should he be rich when so many other people were out there, struggling to make ends meet?

When he turned eighteen, he told his parents he was going to go see the world. Of course, his father hated the idea, but his mother talked him into letting their son leave, though only after compromising that he spend four years learning how to run the family business. At the age of 22, Zac shouldered his pack and shoved off for the great big world.
