Name: Kassandra Keigwan
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Parents: Kaia (deceased) and Levante Keigwan (MIA), Sponsored by King Namor.
Powers:
*Illusions- Kassy's most versatile ability is that she can form illusions of all 5 senses. Sight and sound are the easiest for her, tactile illusions are a bit more difficult, and draining. Smell and taste are possible for Kassy, but she's not very good at them; mostly because those are quite subjective. Her illusions do not work on robots or electronic devices, and most of the time, animals won't be fooled by the sight/smell illusions.
*Mind control- She can invade the minds of others. How well it works depends on t he strength of that person's mind, how hard she's trying, and what level of control she's trying to induce. Theoretically, she could tell someone to stab themselves... but it would take a whole lot of power to override the mind's innate will to survive. IF Kassy could pull this off, she would likely pass out for days afterward due to the backlash. Kassy hates using this power in any form and uses it solely as a last resort.
*Aquatic form- Kassy has to sleep submerged in water, and has to drink constantly to properly maintain a bipedal form. If she gets dehydrated, she reverts back to what many would call a 'merperson'.
*Resistance - Kassy has a natural resistance, and in some cases, immunity to other mental attacks. Another illusionist will be ineffective, and another mind controller would have to be extremely powerful (and only focused on her) to defeat her.
Bio: Kassandra was born with a rare type of magic, one that had been systematically expunged from her race's DNA. Her grandfather could read minds. Her mother could speak to the dead. Kassy herself can cast illusions of all sorts, and can induce others to do her bidding. Her mother and father travelled the planet, never staying in one place for a long time. Her mother took work from those who didn't hate her power, and they lived this way until Kassy was about eight. Her mother's spirit was taken from her body during her work, and her body ceased to live. Her distraught father took her to the home of her aunt, promising to return for her soon. He never did.
Young Kassy grew up isolated. She was shunned by the townspeople, and shamed by her aunt. Her aunt considered her a freeloader and a sociopath, and was determined to beat the magic out of her. Her uncle did nothing to stop his wife's poor treatment of their niece. Kassy's only solace was in her cousin Leonce, who ignored his mother's opinions and treated her as a sister. The two grew up close, and he was her savior.
Unfortunately, her aunt was not much kinder to her own son, and as soon as her cousin became of age, he pledged (married) to someone and moved far away from home. While he did offer to take Kassy with him, she declined. Left on her own, Kassy honed her magic in secret, growing more controlled and powerful by the turn of each tide. All she had to do was make it five more years, and then she would be an adult in the eyes of the law.
Five years proved to be too long. After one particularly rough night, Kassy gathered what she had and left home, determined to find somewhere that she belonged. She swam on and on, only stopping permanently in the massive city of Atlantis. When browsing the market for food, she ran into - and stopped - a robbery attempt with quick use of her magic. She didn't have time to consider the consequences of using her magic in such a public space, and word spread like squid ink in clear water. Several guards appeared to take her to the palace, and Kassy was certain she was going to die in prison. Luckily for her, that was not the case. King Namor found her abilities quite interesting, and more than useful to his kingdom. That wasn't quite the case for all of his council, though, and to give himself time to convince them of Kassy's worth, he arranged for her schooling at the Academy.
Kassy has done a lot of reading about the surface world, but has never interacted directly until now. She's eager to learn everything she can about humans, metahumans, mutants, demigods, and whatever Deadpool is.

Name: Kijani Ryane
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Parents: Parents aren't heroes. Granddaughter of Amanda Waller.
Powers: Kijani has the ability to manipulate paper, and control it’s density. She can turn an index card into a razor sharp blade, a book into a brick, and newspaper into armor. She can remember anything she’s read and recall it with accuracy.
She also has a lot of grace on the battlefield, her primary talent being evasion and misdirection. Her fighting style is a blend of Tai Chi and Capoeria- moving with the flow of the fight, never stopping. Kijani’s self-invented style flows from move to move, never breaking stride even when she falls or is hit, it simply becomes another move in the dance.
She has been trained in the use of a Chinese jian and has been gifted with her own blade.
She has a gift for languages and speaks 4, 5 if ASL is included, and is working on Mandarin Chinese.
Bio: Kijani was born to two wealthy, brilliant people who happened to dislike each other. Her conception was essentially an accident, and her parents married out of propriety rather than love. She grew up cared for by a nanny while her parents worked and ignored her. When she was eleven, she was kidnapped off the streets and held for ransom for a week. Her parents paid, she was released, but she was scarred, both physically and psychologically. From that day on she was never quite the same. She promised herself she’d never let that happen to her again, no matter what it took. Her nanny was fired, and Kijani pretty much raised herself from the age of eleven while her parents worked. She became an emancipated minor at the age of fourteen, took her inheritance from her parents, and used it to start living life on her own terms.
After the events of Kijani's first semester at the Academy, she has also cut herself off from her grandmother.
