Nothing a Proper British Officer cannot handle, quite, with a dram of something warming. Personal Style: Reginald dresses in the garb of a British Officer Fighter Pilot: a dark green officer's cap, cream-coloured trousers with matching shirt and badged tie, over which he sometimes wears a dark grey coat and red scarf. The coat is replaced by a thin, dark grey burnoose (long, loose hooded cloak, commonly used by Arabs in North Africa) when in the desert, and brown boots. Reginald commonly wears an aviator's uniform when in his aircraft, consisting of a drab tan uniform with aviator's cap and goggles. Instead found himself accomplishing little out of the ordinary for the C.O. of an occupying garrison in a non-hostile country. Reginald relishes drinking greatly, both as a means of dulling out the boredom of not seeing piloting action and as a pastime, a trait he exhibits with gusto and admirable tolerance. The Lord Major is always ready to put his own life on the line for a friend. The slightest chance of a thrill gets Reginald to his feet, accepting whichever challenge anyone might pose that involved bravery and courage, to say nothing of missions involving suicide. Of course, so long as it is a challenge worthy of the Lord Major Reginald I. Keystone. After decades of service to the Crown on behalf of the Royal Army’s need to maintain a superior aerial fighting force, be it dirigible, biplane, fighter craft, or human bloody kite, I excelled to the degree necessary to give me an adventurous command position here in Northern Africa during the War To End All Wars, and a cushy position doing the same afterward. Now, did you not mention that you would pick up the second round? Well then, I shall abscond to the lavatory, such as it is here, to expect a neat whisky upon my return. Perhaps then we can discuss your “mission”. Life Before You Moved To Cairo: The Lord Major Reginald Keystone was born and raised in Brighton, England, to an aristocratic line. While still noble, the family had moved away from serious financial power, thanks to the decline of the aristocracy as a whole and the family’s reliance on money from technologies that were being outdated, thanks to the continuing Industrialization of the British Empire. Over time, the best method to keep the family’s honor and status that played upon their noble bloodline was to invest their sons in the Military. Lords (and their heirs) had the distinction to be trained as Officers immediately, provided they were fit for the position. After boarding school, Reginald moved immediately into secondary education at the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich (later a London annex), receiving the most modern education possible in the fields of Engineering and Aeronautics. The latter was a fairly young field of study, but it was packed full of bright, hungry minds looking to get on the cutting edge of the contemporary battlefield. Unfortunately, the Royal Army had yet to officially found its first Aerial Battalions by the time he exited the program, and he was placed into service with the Royal Army Motor Pool and Cavalry with the Royal Engineers. It wasn’t until 1888 that he really got to use the broader portion of his education, transferring to the School of Ballooning to help start the first in a series of Dirigible Troops for the newly formed Air Battalion. After the realities of aerial superiority in the Battlefield were proven, the Royal Engineers of the Air Battalion saw their units transformed into the Royal Flying Corps, including many different types of craft and methods of military application. Reginald learned them all as they came into the Corps. Lord Major Keystone was there at the start of the British Royal Air Force, as it eventually became, just prior to the start of World War One. By this time, he already had a family; younger wife who bore him a child, another on the way. While it was not an arranged marriage, it was not one founded on love, rather convenience and expectation of their families. Reginald was actually past an age where many military men would consider retiring; for his rank and contributions over the years he had earned a healthy retirement package. Instead, he re-upped his terms of service and went right back in with the announcement of the assassination of Kaiser Wilhelm. A World War. How adventurous. Also around this time, his wife discovered the existence of Reginald’s mistress, a lady for which he did have feelings. And apparently, another child. When it became public, he fell out of favor with the Aristocracy. His wife filed for divorce on the grounds of Adultery, which was obvious, and Abandonment. She was granted the children, provided she remarry after a set amount of time, and a portion what remained of the family fortune. Reginald continued to support her and their children until that time. Likewise, he supported his mistress and their child, now living in London. He insisted upon giving their baby his family’s name, for whatever gain it may provide. Reginald served with distinction, leading his troops into battle, reconnaissance, and providing air support to the fellows on the ground. He racked up a number of kills in dogfights over Germany and France, floated quietly over enemy lines in balloons at night to drop supplies or lower in shock troops, and generally became known as an aerial badass, commanding the respect of friend and foe alike. Life Since You Moved To Cairo: Toward the end of the war, when tensions began to heat up in North Africa, the Royal Air Force transferred the older Officer to command their installation in Cairo. This was partially because of his reputation - Enemy Pilots and Officers of lesser experience may reconsider taking action against an area protected by a battalion of crack pilots under the command of the Lord Major, seeing as most of them were raised hearing stories about the man. Sometimes his reputation worked for him. Sometimes it drew out people looking to make a name for themselves. He and his men had several great adventures during this time, flying over the sands and fighting various enemies, brawling in taverns, and associating with the locals. He got to see all of his friends die, too. One by one, they went. Each died in glorious (and not so glorious) battle. Over time, Lord Major Reginald I. Keystone saw the ultimate emptiness to it all, especially when the war had been over for a number of years. Also over time, he came to realize that he had pushed away that which was most important to him, and was too ashamed to return to England. At best, he could hope for death in the service of something greater than himself, and reunite with friends and family lost. Hopefully, he could accomplish some goal in death that would make up for the mistakes of his life. Cheers.” Theme Song:

Anything Else: Thoth - Keeper of wisdom and balance, scribe of the Gods, and the guy who really controlled things behind the scenes. http://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/3214659 Reginald receives a bi-weekly salary of fifty shillings (40 as Squadron Commander wages for the time, 10 for his status as an Engineer), and is subject to additional monies in the form of Flight Pay. 25% of this income goes back to London (his childrens’ financial support), and at least 10% goes immediately into savings. These savings are considerable, at this time. He brings in the equivalent of 32.5 shillings every two weeks, or 32 shillings and sixpence (six pennies). As his basic needs for food and housing are taken care of by the Royal Army, this is generally all disposable, liquid income. The salary, for the time period, is extremely comfortable, especially given the lower cost of living in Cairo.
