"Come on Jorde, you know you should get out of here. Getting caught somewhere you shouldn't be is one thing but at the scene of a murder to boot? Going to jail is very possible, plus what if that guy's ghost is around and wants to scare you?
"I don't like g-g-g-ghosts. Or jail." he said aloud, forgetting to speak to the voices in his head in his head. But Octavius is going to look after us, right? He won't let anything bad happen...

The nearest bookshelf thumped up and down against the floor, some of the books trying to gnaw their way out of their holdings. Jorde backed away a little.

'Look for anything on how to trap demons, and you shall be rewarded,' Octavius had said, and Jorde was going to listen to him.

"No, not sealing the demonic creatures, you moronic spirits." the abrassive Icathul shouted. "We need to summon them! To allow them to walk upon this drenched lands, to cleanse this world from the unimpeded debauchery of humanity's humanity!"

'We cannot summon them if they have already been summoned and trapped,' sneered Octavium. 'This is a wizard's university - they will have them chained up in the dungeon. Durhhh!'

Athaliah sighed before answering Tookie's concerns. "No, I wouldn't really hurt him. Though that's in most part because of the spell this dolt used to bind me here. You should remember that Tookie, you're one of those who's been here the longest." She made some grumbling about how she's never been able to even scratch Jorde, let alone hurt him in any way, when she heard Octavium's comment about Jorde's hangovers. "Wait. That was you? I always thought it was Tookie or..." Her voice was drowned out in the clamor.

Great, now not only was it crowded, everyone was speaking at once and arguing with each other. You'd think that the voices only one man could hear would be rather quiet, wouldn't you? "Could, could everyone just-" A moment of indecision went through her mind before, disregarding it, she exploded. "For the love of @*$&! Everyone CALM DOWN!"

Luckily she'd managed to censor herself, Jorde would have heard that too. No need to put any more words in his head. She spoke quietly, sure that everyone was able to hear her now. "Firstly, no summoning any more 'demons', 'spirits', or anything else, we've got enough here already. Secondly, dead humans are a bad thing to be around, and these 'books' don't seem any better. So, for all our sakes, let's get Jorde out of here and away from danger, please." She awkwardly added the last word as she finished speaking. It was not often this happened, and now she felt self-conscious for it.

Not that she wasn't conscious of her self in the first place.

'Oooooohh, someone's being polite today...,' chuckled Octavium, 'and of course I'm the one that clears his hangovers - do you remember the time when he refused to do anything because he was feeling dizzy?'

"Don't worry, Jorde." said Camilla, "as soon as I can get control from these idiots, we'll bake some cookies. That's got to be way less stressful than playing around with dark magic and getting yelled at by the voices in your head, right?"

Of course, they wouldn't just be normal cookies. She had plan's after all, but the idiot she was stuck in didn't need to know that. Best to keep him happy.

While Tookie knew better than to trust Camilla her offer to bake cookies sounded both harmless and fun. "That is actually a good idea, don't you agree Jorde? " As a kid at least their host loved cookies, like most kids, enough to give Tookie a name that sounded similar to it.

There was alot of screaming going on in Jorde's head, so Jorde decided it would be fun to scream too.

"AGHHHHGRH!" he screamed, as he planned to, and he was very satisfied with the screaming that he did.

A banging came from beyond the door. There was muffled talking. It was probably fine.

Jorde grabbed for the nearest book, searching for one to do with trapping demons. It bit him, hard, and he dropped it to the ground. It started to slowly gallumph away, as books don't have legs, and because of that they're really sucky at walking.

It was bound in a strange black leather, will a series of symbols on the front that had been scratched out. What little he could read of the title said "...Demons: How To Guide" but it was very difficult to read as the book was currently escaping.

BANG. BANG BANG. went the door.

The shock from the bite had given Jorde brief control of his mind. Brief, because there was now space in his empty head for someone to step in.

When the books began moving around Tookie came to what was according her to the logical conclusion."It's that guy's ghost. Jorde you're gonna have to get out of there now! Maybe we can find a book on getting rid of ghosts in the regular parts of the library. Unfortunately while she was a bit smarter than her best friend she had a tendency to jump to conclusions, especially when she was scared, so she didn't even consider that the books were moving because of their dark magic.

oh no! thought Jorde, letting the book scuttle off to it's freedom as he turned tail and ran for the door. He carefully run around the corpse of Old Wizard Madradius, lest his blood drip onto his clothes and send him into a freakout. what an earth was I thinking, hanging out in here? It's bad news! You know whenever you're around Tookie, the stuff Icathul and Octavius says about demons just seems really shortsighted... He grabbed the double door by the handle and wrenched it open.

Christopherius was on the other side, looking very displeased. "Jorde! What have I told you about going into the forbidden section? Really after last time! You are not a competent enough wizard to deal with these books! You should come with me to my office immediately, I think we need to have a chat about your recent behaviour."

Oh no Tookie! What do we do now? Should we tell him about the corpse?

Tookie was relieved when Jorde ran into an authority figure but what was the best course of action right now, after all even if she didn't have a choice in the matter the wizard apprentice was still her best friend. "Tell him about the body in there.

At first she wanted to leave at that but she quickly realized that Jorde needed to give a reason for why he was preferably one that didn't make him sound insane, which also meant she had to ignore this opportunity to convince Christopherius of her existence. " You being thought of as crazy would be pretty much the worst thing to happen right now. So instead of telling him about us say you went into the forbidden section because you heard strange noises.

"I heard strange noises in the forbidden section." Jorde blurted out, a little out of breath from his brief escape from said area.

"Really now?" said Christopherius, obviously not impressed. "You do know there is a ward on the door to prevent the books within upsetting our compatriots with their chatterin-"

"Yes. also I found a body. A dead one." Christopherius stopped his train of thought immediately as his eyes grew wide. "Show me immediately." the elderly wizard demanded, pushing past Jorde.

Tookie wondered if she ask Jorde to follow his mentor, on the one hand it meant going back to where she thought the ghost was but on the other hand Christopheruis would be there to protect him and he might need help with something. "I think you should listen to him, sure it might be scary but I"m sure old Chris can handle a ghost."

Jorde dutifully followed Christopharius back into the Forbidden Section, albeit relunctantly. The chains jangled abd the books snarled, and Jorde tried to stay away from anything that might try to bite him.

A shadow passes over the room.

The door behind you closes and clicks.

Neither Jorde nor Christopharius notice this, but you do.

"Thats a dead body, alright." murmured Christopharius, poking the old alchemist with his cane. There was a slurping sound as some dark black blood poured out from the mangled form and hit the ground in front of the old wizard. "Fascinating. Not your handywork even slightly. This is some very dark magic. You know I wondered why he didn't turn up to our bridge session yesterday evening... I thought he was giving me the cold shoulder. He's always been a second rate apothecaire by my estimations..." Christopharius rambled on.

When Tookie heard the door close she wanted to warn Jorde that they were trapped in there with the angry ghost, but before she could say anything they came across Madradius's body. After poking the corpse Christopharius seemed to come to the conclusion he was killed by dark magic. Putting two and two together Tookie realized that the killer must have been the one to lock them in. Forcing herself to act and sound calmer than she was she told Jorde. "Okay, don't freak out, but I heard the door close so there is a good chance that we're stuck with both a ghost and a murderer. Just tell Christopharius that you heard the door close and I'm sure he can handle things.

"Okay, don't freak out but I heard the door close so there is a good chance that we're stuck with both a ghost and a murderer."

"oh," thought Jorde, "don't freak out. Thanks for telling me that because I really was about to have a complete and total meltdown." he said to Tookie, very much relieved.

"Wait, a ghost or murderer? isn't that bad, Tookie?" he asked, stepping gingerly over to Christopharius.

"Excuse me, Mr. Christopharius-"

"...you know this is a quite complicated ritual... I wonder what they used to bind it?"

"I think the murderer or maybe a ghost is in here with us so maybe we should leave? Except the door is locked behind us so can you fix that?" Jorde was being very good at staying calm.

"I think I read something about this the other day in my office..."

Christopherius mumbled away to himself, deep in thought. Suddenly all the lights went out.

"Tookie! Tookie it got dark! Tookie I'm freaking out!"

BANG BANG BANG. You hear rattling and growling in the darkness.

To be honest Tookie was having the reaction as Jorde, but she knew she had to be the reasonable one. "Take a few deep breaths and think of something happy like bunnies and kitties." Her advice was meant for both Jorde and herself, even though she couldn't actually breathe. When she felt a little better she got an idea. "Do you know any spells to create light?."

'Not light as such,' Octavium chipped in, 'but I can make fire. In a blast. Basically magic missile with fire. I could allow you to use it if you allow me to use one of your skills another time... Take the offer or leave it.'

Wanting light Tookie decided to accept Octavium's offer, not even thinking about the potential danger of fire in a library. "I'll take it."
