She'll get no education, no-one her own age to interact with. Not to mention that takes up room as she will need her own accomadation and supplies to spend who knows how long in space.

Whereas if he had her in Cryo-Sleep he'd be safe in the knowledge that when she awoke she'd have people her own age to interact with, there'd be people to teach her and help her learn and more importantly, she'd survive to see Humanity have a new home.
