Letting out a sigh Cody continued to glance out of the window of the backseat of the car. His parents were up front, happily singing along with some old Dolly Parton song. All while Cody himself was listening to whatever hip hop or rock tune the playlist on his phone would play next. His parents had planned to make a road trip out of taking Cody to his new home for the next four years at Savior School. Cody himself was dreading the trip and its been as boring, mindless, and forced as he thought it was. His parents were proud of their young man for going to such a prestigious school, as Cody in his testings to find his power range showed a lot of promise. Especially since Cody had privately honed his powers for years. Cody though was simply miserable. Him going to the school wasn’t his idea at all. He only agreed to make his parents finally just stop hounding him about it. They kept telling him it should be his sense of duty, self-pride, honor, and purpose that had him go to the school. For Cody it was all just silly, the concept people would wear tight spandex, prancing around, and punch other tight spandex wearing losers. It was just silly at best, and kind of sad at worst to Cody. He had a good life going where he built computers for people and made good enough money. Seeing the large school ahead Cody sighed as he flipped down his headphones around his neck. “Oh you excited for the first day my little elastic wonder?” His mom asked, seeing Cody finally not blasting music into his head. “Yeah... thrilled.” Cody muttered rubbing his eyes with the cuff of his hoodie. Realizing at that moment he has been wearing said hoodie and jeans since the road trip stated a few days ago. “Sweetie, this is a great time for you in life, besides you know what they say about complaining about something before even trying it.” His mom pointed out. Cody simply shrugged and looked ahead in the car unmoved. “I mean yeah I guess?” Cody had for fleeting moments given the idea some thought. Maybe the school would be a fun experience, maybe he was just being a whiner being thrown out of his safety bubble. Cody had a hard time believing it though. Either way complaining or arguing hasn’t worked at all yet, and wasn’t going to work now. Cody just had to bite his tongue and hope the next few years would go quickly enough. After getting unpacked from the car, watching his parents drive away. Cody just stood there with his remaining luggage looking on. A mix of frustration and relief coursing through his rubbery core for a moment. He was finally rid of them, but he wasn’t exactly a free man either. Still he knew he had to do some orientation thing soon. So pulling out his phone to pull up some small game to alleviate the boredom Cody made his way out to the field. Seeing the headmaster superheroes there, and the fawning over them some of the other students were doing. Cody just quietly stood a bit away from the crowd. Mindlessly playing some old arcade game on his phone, waiting for things to get started so he could do what he naturally does in such a situation. Ignore everyone and everything in said situation.
