Alright, new character. [@Asuras] can choose which one you think would be more useful.
Name: Kain Tythian Age: 22 Sex: Male Race: Elvish Nation: Ollas Position/Status: Vicar History: A native of Ollas, there wasn't much decision as to what Kain would be doing when he grew up. Perhaps it was because his father had been something of the rapacious sort, leaving his mother for her to work and struggle by herself while he went off to other lands for months if not years at a time. His mother bore with it as best she could, but he could tell that it ate at her, and it soured him to that sort of lifestyle, with a resolve that he wouldn't be like that. That was why he chose to join the clergy when he had the opportunity to do so, not simply because it was a path of governance that would allow for power, but because he saw it as a necessary part of this world. There had to be a moral order, something to stand with people, to be their hope and to hold others accountable for wrong doing. Perhaps his father hadn't meant it, but he was determined that others would not have to be the same way. That was what he devoted his energy to, as he entered into the clergy of Ollas. He began work on the ground floor, roughly, going through a few years of schooling before he began to actually work. His first acts were preaching in small congregations, on the streets, doing charity work and collecting donations. But with his firm resolve, caring demeanor, and his unwavering beliefs he began to rise through the ranks, recommended by his superiors and making friends who helped him go higher and higher. Perhaps it was unremarkable, but he felt that he was making a difference. Then the world turned upside down. Baelwill was shaken by double calamity, and the foundations of the world creaked and groaned. Soldiers marched out to confront Baelwill only to fail, but it was plain to see that any unquestioned dominance they had was now gone, left in smoldering ruins. And Ollas changed as well, firm doctrine coming increasingly into question, ideological conflicts now beginning to rise to the fore once again. In that discontent Kain managed to cement his position, at last becoming a Vicar and collecting support around him for his own viewpoint. It wasn't strictly conservative, but it was fairly close to it, at the end of the day. Yet he himself is not content. Having looked at the state of Ollas, he has come to a conclusion. That if the faith is to survive, it must be divorced from it's connection to Baelwill, allowed to flourish. So he prepares to accomplish that, however it needs to be done. Skills and Abilities: Word of the Blessed - As a Vicar of the Ollasian faith, Kain has been given the skill and ability to speak the words as laid down in holy scripts, and to sway the hearts and minds of all who care to listen to it. Whether it be to persuade, to chastise and return to the correct path of morality, or simply to motivate and encourage those who need it in their darkest times, he is ready with a phrase, a saying, or a reading to provide what the soul desires. Shining Light - Also as a result of his position within the Ollasian hierarchy as well as his years of training for that position, Kain is able to call upon holy powers, to channel the blessings and abilities of those beings who choose to aid him in his quest. While this primarily takes the form of boons such as healing, cleansing of sickness, restoration, etc, it can also allow him to strike down foes, albeit only if those he chooses to call upon deign it worthy to do so. Steel of the Devoted - Those who dwell within Ollas, in spite of their differences in doctrine and facets of belief, are nonetheless firmly held to the faith itself. This has given them a strength of will when it comes to fighting those they see as being 'against' them, or those that they are told do not enjoy the blessings of the religion itself. They are firm warriors, and while many are scholars and religious figures, this has given them no less experience in working with a blade or a bow, to spread the message by power if they must. Bonds of the Kindred - Due to the significant nature of the Ollasian religion, both in Ollas itself as well as in Baelwill, those who are in the upper levels of the Ollasian government can enjoy connections with various believers around the globe, and have sway where more mundane means of power may fail. From other priests to nobles, it can be said that Ollas has influence wherever they need to be, though obviously it is far from supreme. But still, it comes in use.
