I reread your post. And a minor inconsistency is that there is no obvious sign either of the zombies are dead. Unless you had a few moments to examine them closely. Or had some ability that I don't recall. 

I was out in public with them, so I disguised them so that the good townsfolk of Denver don't go calling the cops or protectorate.
