Welcome to Denago, a growing town in the great nation of Caldara. Nearby farms provide food for the people of Denago, trading with the local craftsmen for a variety of useful wares. Taverns and shops cater to the merchants and travellers that occasionally pass through town, some occasionally moving in to the growing town. The Population of 3,491 includes many professions, Tailors, Bakers, Candlestick makers, Guards, Priests and blacksmiths all call Denago home.

Recently however, strange things have been happening around town, some people have seen ghosts, blights have spread across crops and children are developing strange illnesses, something unnatural is happening in Denago and it's up to the people to figure it out...they may be in for more they can handle.

Welcome to "The Blight" a roleplay taking place in a town in a Low fantasy world. Think "Game of Thrones" While some mystics and sages deal with arguably supernatural forces on a regular basis, the feats mortal men can accomplish with magic are fairly subtle, but for the ordinary person magic is the stuff of stories based on half-truths and ancient legends. other intelligent species exist alongside humanity but usually they arent very magical. You are playing people dealing with that which they do not understand. While the priests may think they know what's going on, they too are in the dark about the nature of the supernatural.

Religion plays a major part of day to day life to the people in the kingdom of Caldara, The dominant religion is called the Ardacan Chruch that has spread itself across the world through missionaries. While the Ardacan church has a collection of "Canon Scriptures" they tend to be fairly tolerant of local religions and even help with "pagan" festivals as long as they do not go against canon teachings. The beliefs of the Ardacan church is that all of creation is a grand design by the God Arda, Arda created a heavenly kingdom first before making the earthly realm, the heavenly kingdom is full of Angels that rule over the lands. Pagan gods of converted cultures are often said to be angels (though some gods they reinterpret as demons) the Ardacan church usually "adds on to" rather than replaces the religions of the land. Worshipers are expected to observe religious festivals, go to church every saturday, and pay alms to the church (those who lack any money don't have to give alms).

Non-Human Races: Most of the townsfolk are human, though sometimes travelers from far away lands end up in town Playable non-human races will include.

Wood Elves: Wood elves live in small tribes rarely more than 50 people, they usually live away from human settlements instead prefering the forests, they are largely nomadic hunter gatherers. Some tribes are peaceful and others are violent unpredictable raiders. Wood elves are short and always seem to be smiling. they gather herbs to create psychoactive substances and make strange music luring people to join them in trances. Sometimes they eat the person, other times they leave him alone depending on tribe and the whims of the wood elves. Some wood elves are more "civilized" and actively trade with humans usually travelling in caravans, they offer bizarre entertainment, fortune telling, prostitution, and exotic foods and very very alcholic drinks.

Dark elves: Most Dark elves live in small communities, rarely interacting with anyone outside of the tribe, each tribe has its own strange customs, many dark elves are covered in ritual scarification, a disturbing amount of Dark Elves utilize torture for what is believed to be religious reasons. Occasionally other races end up members of Dark Elf tribes, while they are xenophobic, if someone shows genuine dedication to joining the tribe they will take the initiate through an initiation ceremony (which varies from tribe to tribe, for some tribes the initiation is "silly" other times it is "horrifying") Dark Elf "Nations" exist in which numerous tribes exist alongside one another and interact through diplomats, other than the diplomats Dark Elves will generally not talk with people from other tribes. Being a member of multiple tribes is actually possible.

Goblins: short semi-humanoid creatures who display great diversity, some of them look more like animals than humans. Goblins are the most magical thing that can be experienced by most people as they have a small amount of innate magical ability, Goblins are pretty rare and nobody knows exactly what they are, they are highly intelligent, curious and mischievious but do not seem to have any society. Some goblins live in the wild occasionally entering human villages and towns to conduct mischief, usually they don't seem to mean any harm but some goblins take things a little far. some goblins have been "domesticated" and are owned as pets. nobody knows how to breed them though, they don't appear to have any gender. Goblins can learn the languages of Humans and Elves, most only know simple phrases but some speak quite eloquently. Goblins arent as common as they are in other settings. some isolated towns consider them to be a myth. But Denago has a few goblins inhabiting it, some think of them as pests.

Orcs: Usually larger than a human, orcs are pig-faced beings from the far north, as such they are a very rare sight in Caldara. Orcs in Caldara tend to have lived with humans for a few generations so tend to follow the customs of humans more than the custom of Orcs, still they keep some traditions alive often living in special districts out of choice with fellow orcs. some think that orcs are "slow" or "dumb" but they are smarter than they look, they tend to prefer more carnal pursuits rather than abstract pursuits but that doesnt mean they can't enjoy art. Orcish art tends to use bright colors and rich flavorful food, Orcish theater is in seeming contrast, highly refined and usually lacks any words and includes lots of swordfighting.

As for demographics we have
93% human
5% Orc
1% wood elf
.7% dark elf
.3% goblin
