Seems to me like you're taking criticism of your character way too personally. He did something annoying, peeps got annoyed. Whatever. All Raineh did was point out that it was a silly thing. It's cool if you want to justify your dude's actions, but don't get all huffy if your point isn't coming across. 
The general consensus seems to be that it was a weird thing to do. You did the thing, it got reactions, go do a different thing. Jeez dude, its not SERIOUS BUSINESS. Mellow out and keep playing. :^)
