Ekra stands at just about 4 feet - maybe 4'1" if she stands on her toes. Her colors are the same as any other skull kid’s - woodlike skin, red-orange hat with the golden links, orange beak, the green over the orange shirt, light green pants, brown shoes. She tries to keep her appearance concealed under a red cloak and Keaton mask.

Ekra has heard the tales, of kokori straying from the path in the Lost Woods and becoming skull kids forever more. She’s not sure if it’s true – she can’t remember if she was a kokori at any point and, if so, if she was always the born liar she is today. While she is a trickster like other skull kids, she is wary of big flashy displays she knows she can’t particularly back up, and thus prefers to pull her tricks with words – spinning lies and falsehoods, trying basic measures to obscure her nature. Her targets are often those who catch her attention for whatever reason, ranging from carrying wares not native to the forest to humming a tune she’s never heard before. Ekra’s never known life outside the Lost Woods and so she has a deep sense of curiosity and a profound ignorance to what other races may take for granted.

Given her lack of self-confidence, she comes across as nervous, keeping a kind of caution up around others and keeping her voice quiet. It doesn’t mean she dislikes talking – in fact, get her on a subject she likes and she can easily ramble for an hour, or ask dozens of questions to sate her interest – it just means she is concerned about whose attention she may draw. What few direct tricks she plays, she tries to avoid being able to receive credit for them. You never know who’ll be tricked, after all. Some of those people are quite mean.

Ekra shares a lot in common with her fellow skull kids - for example, a tendency to childishness and impatience. She hates being told she'll have to 'put up' with something she's decided she doesn't like, and she can get frustrated when being made to wait. This also means she can be quick to assumptions due to a marked tendency not to take the time to think things through. However, unlike a lot of skull kids, Ekra has a slightly warped sense of mortality. Perhaps it's a result of dealing with so many violent travelers, but, either way, the notion of death and murder does not bother Ekra terribly despite her otherwise shy and childlike nature.

Ekra doesn’t exactly have much memory of her life before she was a skull kid. She suspects she was likely a Kokori, since the children of Hylians and others tend to become stalfos. She’s met other skull kids in the woods, each of varying temperaments, though with one trait in common: general mischief towards wanderers of the Lost Woods. Ekra was never above tricking and bothering these wayfarers, though she was often curious as to what they were doing in the woods - where were they headed, where had they come from, what things had they done and were planning to do? A few of the friendlier ones, she managed to persuade to stick around in the forest and talk to her about their own lives. While such chats were good, most couldn’t stay. Worse were the ones who no longer could find their path; those, Ekra watched become stalfos. She learned quite a bit - the variety of races scattered across Hyrule, the encroaching darkness, the tales of a hero long gone - and collected just as much from

When the whispers started, Ekra wasn’t sure what to make of them. She wasn’t even sure if skull kids could leave the Lost Woods - she’d never tried, nor had she seen any of the others (well, there was that story of one long ago who left and never came back, but they also said he’d always been strange and it was possible he’d wandered off to die). However, with the urgency of the whispers and the date fast approaching, she decided to give it a go. For the first time, she left the Lost Woods to see the world she’d heard so much about, and maybe learn where the whispers were coming from.

  • Ekra loves to play her flute, lifted from a wayward traveler during her first year as a skull kid. It appears to be a normal, if well-made flute, and Ekra has gone to pains to keep it intact. Most of the songs she knows are learned from travelers, either directly or indirectly. One of her more peculiar songs was taught directly, by the same man who gave her the Keaton mask, and it feels like it charges the air around her.

  • Ekra is capable of using her flute as a blowgun for sufficiently dense plant seeds, and using them to pelt people. However, while her aim is good, her range is somewhat lacking - perhaps from the top of a tree branch.

  • If Ekra is out of deku seeds, and she cannot flee, her next skill is throwing objects from her perch - deku nuts, rocks, that kind of thing. Though her aim remains good, her stamina is a little less so.

  • As is true of many skull kids, Ekra is light on her feet and fast to move. Her small stature even lets her weave between people.
• (SS) Tracking (5)
  
  • Ekra is capable of tracking people for miles over dirt surfaces and undergrowth with a fair amount of ease. Other surfaces prove problematic for her, however.
• (PS) Sleight of hand (8)
  
  • Ekra has no innate magic. She has tried to make up for it by improving her sleight of hand, to good effect. She can apparently 'teleport' small items out of her reach into her hands, make small items 'disappear', and even make her marionette seem alive. While there are rational means behind her tricks, observable to those able to watch at their leisure or the particularly sharp-eyed, she's gone to great lengths to conceal them.
• (SS) Plant gathering (4)
  
  • Ekra is capable of gathering roots, berries, leaves, flowers, and stems edible to her. However, as most skull kids have slightly better constitutions than other species on account of their nature, this has occasionally led to her gathering plants that would be poisonous to those she wanted to befriend. There are a handful of things she can gather with practiced ease - mostly seeds and deku nuts.

  • Ekra is decent at climbing trees, even if taller trees will wear her out. She has no skill climbing rock faces or anything else, though.

Like many skull kids, there is the strong desire for companionship, from people who will not abandon or harm her. However, she also wants to know – what lies outside the Lost Woods? Is any of it something she ought to know, perhaps from another life?

Kamon stands at around seven feet tall, well above the height of any Hylian or Zora, and rivaled only by the Gorons. The Darknuts are a race of canine-esque humanoids, with a muzzle and elongated face, covered in short fur that varies between greys, blacks, and browns. In Kamon's case, it is a deep muddy brown, trimmed close and neat to his skin. This is rarely seen, however, with the Darknut warrior being encased most of the time in the ornate black and gold armor of the Darknut Legion, covering his head to toe. A pair of golden, canine eyes stare out of the black depths of the helmet.

“Come and prove to me you are strong enough to wield my Blade!”

Kamon stands out among his kind as a progressive and skilled ambassador, open to other ideologies and cultures beyond the rigid lifestyle of the Legion's Code. He is a rare intellectual among the Cliff Lords, fascinated by customs or inventions, particularly those the ‘newer’ races as he puts it. A calculating and perceptive warrior, he quick to point out the flaws or benefits in his opponents techniques, to the extent of giving straight combat advice in order to draw out a fight longer. He believes the Darknut creed is flawed and too stubborn in its ideals and demands reconstruction, though stubbornly clings to what he knows best to achieve his goals. Like any other Darknut, he can be goaded into combat with insults and disrespect, perceived or otherwise. Though as an ambassador, this proud instinct is tempered considerably.

.:: HISTORY ::.

The Darknuts (the Gerudo word for Cliff Lords) are a canine race that originated from the mountain ranges west and south of the Gerudo desert. They are an ancient people, predated only by races of legend such as the Oocca and Fairies. In the past, their civilisation almost fell apart through civil warfare, and conflicts with border races such as the Gerudo and Moblins nearly resulted in the extinction of their race. Facing the end of their people, the warring leaders decided to put aside their differences and declared that from there on out every single Darknut would be trained to be a disciplined and unstoppable warrior at adolescence. After devising a rigorous code from which to follow, the Darknut Legion and its infamous armoured warriors were born. From an early age, Darknuts are trained to wield the best armour, the biggest swords, and maintain the highest order of discipline to preserve their creed. Darknut philosophy places focus on the individual: if one soldier cannot master himself, then it is impossible for him to function in a group. For this reason, Darknuts often prefer to fight alone in engagements, leaving their comrades to their own devices when fighting against groups. When assembled into an army, the Darknuts are without a doubt the single most powerful force to walk Hyrule. This has come at a price, however, as the Darknut Legion places focus on the sword. Their faction has no archers or cavalry at all, and is strictly infantry based. That, combined with their slow speed, makes them hard to master despite their obvious prowess in a hand-to-hand fight. Regardless, a wall of Darknuts shrugging off hundreds of arrows as they slowly advance is bound to put doubt into most armies that they face.

This the story of the Cliff Lords of Hyrule. This is the backstory of all who wear the armor of a Darknut, for it is the story of their people. For the warrior known in the Legion of Kamon, he is no exception. All children are taken a young age to the agoge, as he was. All were trained with the blade, all were given the Creed, and all were taught to bring honor to the Legion.

But when rumors arose amongst the Cliff Lord kind that Ganon, Dark Lord by right of Conquest, had risen again, dissent and uncertainty rippled through the ranks of warriors. Before, the Legion had thrown its lot with the Gerudo and pledge its allegiance to their King. Before, the Dark Lord had been cast down and the Legion forced further and further into the cliffs, hunted in retaliation by the Hylians. Soon, the disunity spread. Battalions cried out for future victories, for conquest, for a new age for the Darknuts under Ganon. Others renounced the Dark King, refusing to take a side that had lost before. The Council of the City of Onetheon was formed, and the vote cast from each Centurion.

An olive branch would be extended. A single Darknut stepped forth from the ranks to carry the message. Should the Hylians accept and grant the Darknut Legion a place in the fetile lands of Hyrule, there would be peace. Peace and an alliance.

If not, they would find the Legion with blades waiting for the Ganon’s return.

• Swordmaster (FS) 10

o The Clifflords have been trained since birth to be masters of their chosen blade; to them, the blade is a extension of their own arms. With their dedication as a race to this particular skill and his rank in the Legion, Karmon is no stranger to his swords. From blocking, to countering, to feinting, to offensive maneuvers, to defensive footwork, any fielded Darknut is a master and a threat like no other to those they cross swords with.

• Unmatched Armour (FS) 9

o Kamon has trained to fight in, and prefers, to wear the thick heavy plate mail armor custom to the warriors of the Legion. This, coupled with the heavy round shield used by his kind, allows him to shrug off and negate many frontal physical attacks at the cost of his combat speed. The armor can be damaged or cut off, however, and this reveals the lighter chainmail armor underneath. When forced into this position, Kamon has little issue casting aside the rest of his plate mail, becoming a much more nimble and agile opponent.

• Diplomatic Talker (SS) 4

o In atypical Darknut fashion, is notably calmer and more diplomatic in his demeanor than most Darknuts, and can restrain himself long enough for an actual conversation to blossom should his race, creed, or pride be insulted. He is familiar with the proper terms of respect for various courts, and can be expected to speak on the behalf of his people with honor and dignity.

• Lore Keeper (MS?) 3

o A race as old as the Darknuts come with a great deal of history, something that is imparted on their offspring to take pride in. Kamon’s interest in other cultures and races, however, has branched out to familiarize himself with the lore, legends, and stories of various other races, learning several ancient dialects to indulge in the this somewhat guilty pleasure.

• Physical Strength & Endurance (FS) 8

o To wear the various layers of the Legion armor and stand is no small feat for a smaller race. To walk is an amazing accomplishment. But to fight in such an armor, to wield a sword almost as big as they are, and to win? Only a Darknut could achieve such a thing…

• Balance (PS) 6

o The title of Clifflord is not simply a name; the terrain of the Darknut homeland is filled with jagged and rocky hills and slopes. A lesser race could easily lose their footing and fall, sometimes into open Oblivion with the ground hundreds of feet below. With a combination of his racial stifle joints and muscular body, keeping his balance on uneven, unnatural, moving terrain is an action almost as simple breathing to Kamon.

Vocally, like any other Darknut trained in the agoge, Kamon is quick is to announce that he seeks to bring honor to the Legion and to die a respectable death against a worthy opponent.

Part of this rings true internally; he is not opposed to dying against a true and worthy opponent in battle. But Kamon recognizes the situation of the Darknuts for what it is; they are viewed as monsters by the more ‘civil’ races, no better than the Blinns. He true desire is to see the Clifflords rise up and take their places as a race blessed by the Goddess. For if the act of War was the pinnacle of a race, why then were they not included in the old Alliances?
