1. Is it ok for me to join with little to no knowledge of the world the RP is based on? 2. Is wind an ok option for magic or are there too many windy people here? 3. Are people limited to 1 type of magic? 4. Is it possible to learn a magic you have no aptitude for at the start? 5. What is the scale of destruction a powerful being can bring? Town, city, country, continent, world, universe?
P.S. Is it possible to be a half breed of a mythological creature?
1) Sure, I can basically give you a rundown in PMs and the first post in the OOC explains a fair amount of the knowledge one is expected to know. 2) Go for it. Wind is pretty cool. 3) You would need a blessing of the Earth to be able to utilize more than one type of magicks. Of course, since we are playable characters it is almost expected that you can have some sort of blessing or some skill that puts you on par with those with blessings, of which could be learned or taught. If you want to think about it in terms of an RPG, blessings are skills ingrained upon you by the world at your birth. 4) Yeah, but don't expect to be a master sageman without putting effort towards such. 5) Depends. The destruction is pretty limited, but it could be applied in certain ways if you read the light novels that would allow for one to do rather strange and unusual things with their abilities and the like. In terms of total raw power tho, strongest someone could potentially achieve is likely town, city could be achieved in certain scenarios, but again, destructive power isn't about how much you can destroy, it is about how you can use it. Hell, even anti-personnel attacks can be stronger in conception than an anti universe attack if it has the right constructs behind it. There are anti country and world "attacks" in the series, but most are conceptual in design rather than power-based, such as the Bishops of Gluttony and their existential erasing powers, but those are authorities and aren't really kosher for a starting character, since they limit themselves to the cult of witches and only to the greatest named Bishops of the Seven Sins are given such titles. The Witches in the series are very powerful entities that cause destruction on a wide-scale, but you are likely not going to be a witch.
