[b]Current situation:[/b] Great things are expected of President Fox, seeing how he has broken the hegemony of the PRI, as a memeber of the PAN, that has held the leadership of the country for around 70 years, although there's accusations of him rising to power through corrupt funding. When the lockdown of the US after the terrorist attacks that took place there, the drug trade found it more difficult to smuggle its products over the border. The rise of violence between the warring drug cartels continues, endangering much of the country and its people. The EZLN continues struggling, although with a lack of violence on its actions, finding itself in the state of Chiapas. Aside from that, Fox holds a view towards the free market and globalization and finds attempts to preserve the ties to strong ties to the US, such as the NAFTA Treaty.
