Well, at first I wanted to deus ex machina my way into the mansion as well, but I thought that it would be disrespectful and kind of a dick move, so I had him shout at the gate in hopes that someone would come... even if he would take down the gate, I'd imagine that most of the guards in the mansion would be alerted to his presence and be hostile to him on sight.
