@Silvan Haven I'm aware of the most recent instance, I was looking for another example that I may not be aware of.

I think that most of your spats with Snow would have been good times to get clarification from another GM before continuing.

@Silvan Haven Don't think there was an actual problem behind most of those, it was as I recall mostly a butting of egos that would and should have been solved by me just walking away.

I'm sort of looking for specific examples so I can figure out where I went wrong and how to not do it again.

Your entire approach to JCBL's team composition, particularly with the character of Bianca, showed a lack of work in actually familiarising on the topic before trying to make decisions, and it was pretty long-lasting there. It's also mostly because of this that Snow gets irritated whenever you continue to act in ignorance.

That's the actual problem. You act without getting all the proper info. Talk to your co-GMs and read everything first.

Never contribute to a topic without fully grasping it, or you open yourself up to criticism and make things more complicated than they actually are.

That's the specific example, but really, the important thing is.

Act with purpose.

You cannot act with purpose if you don't have all the info.

I'm gonna throw out a possible solution that I don't know how much you're all going to like but in the interest of saving y'all let's keep it simple so you don't have to read a ton.

Lugu hires a new co-gm to work alongside Hari, and Prince. Not only do we have a ton of writing for three people with lives to cover. I think many many RP's have three co-gms as it helps cover worlk load.

If this plan were to gain traction, I'd say Lugu you should open yourself up to the old PM me an application system.

While that might be a nice solution, it just doesn't work, unless someone becomes an unofficial Co-GM.
As far as I know, there can be only two Co-GM's.

Sorry for raining on your parade.

In other news, can I be appointed official ambassador of good feels?

You don't need to be official on the guild to help with things.

Recognition doesn't actually matter in my opinion. The point is to get someone to help with the work load.

I would be amenable to the idea of hiring another GM. As they say: if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself, right?

In my post-finals stupor I am a little confused by your last sentence. Are you putting yourself forward as a nominee?

As for process, the way we decided GMs to begin with is that people just wrote a short paragraph why they wanted to be GM and think they'd be good for the job, and if I approved of their behavior and activity, I'd approve.

I think by 'me' he means 'you.' He's saying that you should say that anyone who wants to apply for a co-GM spot should PM you an application like the one you just described.

although write is a power-hungry c a n u c k so it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted the job

@Lugubrious

Yeah, sure. I'll put myself out there as a nominee.

I think it's important to get a good mix of people applying regardless - and I think my track record in this OOC has been for ending fights, not starting them. So throw me in chief.

Here's my paragraph then:

I am the hungriest Canuck.

I will say, it might make more sense to post your applications publicy so others can support certain candidates or voice concern. Considering the lack of communication or amount of miscommunication this might make that simpler.

@Write @NarayanK @Lucius Cypher @Lugubrious

If we're voicing opinions here, then I figure it's my civic duty to weigh in.

I've been playing RPs like this for just shy of a decade, on this site and on others. I once tried to tally up how many games I had played in that time and I got up past forty before I realized that there was no way to remember all of them. I have GMed or Co-GMed almost half of them. I presently help run a game that has lasted for more than ten years, four of which I have been staff for, one that is entering its fifth year, and another finishing its second. I have been playing RWBY games on Guild so long that the only people I recognize from way back then are Lucius and Kaithas, more than three years ago. Kaithas isn't all that much more active, and Lucius is mellower without Irish Tree and Sixsmith to play off of, but they're pretty easy to recognize.

Normally I might put my hat in the ring, but I don't have the time and I don't have the desire. Part of the reason that I enjoy this game so much is that I get to just play. No executive responsibilities.

But I rattle all of those credentials off (credentials that half a dozen of the people in this game can verify) so that when I comment on the options you (plural you) understand that it is with a not insubstantial amount of experience. I couldn't support Write or Nara more wholeheartedly as options for another co-GM.

Both, more often than not, are the voices of reason in occasionally rather heated debates. Write in particular excels at being diplomatic, though he (as usual) tries to undersell himself. The controversies that he claims seem to follow him rarely are any fault of his own, and he is always quick to try and resolve them. He is active, he stays up-to-date with most of the happenings in the game, and he has a level head squarely on his shoulders.

I'd support Nara for many of the same reasons. He's quite active, he is well-liked by literally everyone, and he is an excellent voice of reason when arguments are occurring.

Both would be ideal choices.

I wouldn't nominate Lucius for many of the same reasons I wouldn't nominate myself; he is frequently one of the belligerent parties in debates that occur. That in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. As I said, that is one of the reasons that I wouldn't put my own name forward. But by his own admission arguments over Gren's cybernetic are likely to crop up, and his sense of humor can be misinterpreted rather easily to lead to arguments like we saw only a few days ago. No offense to you, Lucius, but I would much rather support a new co-GM that is not likely to be the cause of any controversy. You are rather good at being the voice of reason yourself, but that only really counts when you're not one of the parties you're trying to bridge the gap between.

Just my two cents on the matter.

Honestly if you want my opinion it shouldn't even be a vote. IMO lugu and prince should see what they are lacking and falling behind on and choose a gm based on what they can't do or what they have come up short up on the past. Choose a GM based on what they need, not because someone had more buddies in the rp so they get in. Do they need someone who can be up to date on the OOC? Basically be a PR person? Be able to put their foot down on issues? Because honestly all three candidates so far are different people for different issues.

Write is sort of like the moderate. In the middle. I can't exactly say much other than that. I can't say I know you at all, so I'm not sure how to judge you. Its.. really balanced. That's not excactly a good thing, but not a bad either. I do not have knowledge of the events you pointed out, so I really don't have an informed opinion.

NarayanK would be the GM everyone likes, but I'm not so sure we need a GM based on the fact a lot of people like them. Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing that everyone likes Narayan, but that may just lead into a scenario where Narayan attempts to please everyone instead of just doing what is good for the rp in general. But maybe a cooler head will solve the issues that will be popping up as of late, who knows. Maybe we need a mediator, someone who can calm the nerves.

I've known Lucius. He's a bud. Take that as bias if you will. I am disclosing that we have been buddies, so don't fuckin send reporters after me k

Anyways Lucius is the one who would probably tackle things head on. A more hands on approach. Brutal honesty, but not shitposting. yes. There is a difference between brutal honesty and just being a dick. However, this might just lead to more conflict since a lot of people in here are just stubborn and will not back down. But really, sometimes GMs need to put their foot down. People aren't going to like what you do sometimes. But you cannot please everyone.

Each really has their own flaws/strengths and really the GMs should be deciding what they need instead of a vote, but again, that is my opinion.

Totally understandable, but to my knowledge it isn't a vote. It's just people having their opinions be heard!
