@Double Capybara Wait, whaat? Why are you trashing posts? That's your hard work and effort! A post should never simply disappear unless by tragic accident causing loss. 'Tis an unwritten law

@Kho Sometimes the foundation is just too shaky and you'd rather go trough a different path. Furthermore, you just have no idea how trainwrecky some of these were.

Looks like my idea for hain dog cavalry isn't going to work exactly as planned. After sifting past the research which was wailing bloggers screeching to "just don't ride dogs ever under any circumstances," I'm going to have to make a new creature.

Probably going to take some artistic licence and say it's a Slough creature. A canine with a weird big bone and muscle structure.

I'm probably overthinking it.

You just wanted an excuse for the phrase 'mutton busting' to be in my browser history, didn't you?

@Muttonhawk Alright, maybe not hain, but think- Goblins have probably been doing this for centuries.

Now that I think about it, since they're mountain dwellers, they've probably been doing it with wild sheep and goats to take advantage of their superb footing (especially since goblins are kinda clumsy themselves). Tedar could help breed a particularly reliable goat for the job, and given what rams and billies are like when they're angry, this idea is, somehow, surprisingly badass.

For a legit answer, though, boars. They're large, fast, tusk-bearing, and probably have the bulk to support a hain. All you'd need is a breed that's actually less aggressive and temperamental than normal boars on Earth, and you'd have a horrifying war mount.

ed: Boar-riding hain and hellhound-riding hain could specialise for different tasks, or come from different cultures (and then meet on the battlefield).

You raise some very valid points. I'll have to think about it. I might even introduce riding goats around Conata unless someone describes them there first. Goblins would be the kind of creatures to ride on anything that would bolt as soon as they're on it.

Maybe I'll make some kind of amalgam of a few creatures for hain. I don't want to give away what I have in mind for how it would work in combat, but suffice it to say, hain are not going to be using lances against each other until the materials get better. There'll be other things.

Spears for war ought to become more important for them with war animals, though.

Is anyone around the White Ocean by the Valley of Peace right now? I would like to make another post before the next skip, but I don't have many ideas.

@Antarctic Termite

Can I take Violet if you're not using her? :3

@Slime Is this post-Realta invasion or pre? Because Thulemiz's undead/wolfmen are probably marauding in the region

@Kho
It's after the Realta invasion, but some time after Vestec and Logos agreed to fight over Xerxes. I would have Helvana run into a Realta if they were still going around purging stuff.

@Slime Oh, the Realta stopped purging things about two days after they started, which was when Teknall and Logos and Vestec met up. There aren't any left to fight after that confrontation.

But then again, what's temporal consistency? If you want to fight a Realta, go for it.

I have a question: How long has it been since the battle between Jvan and Vowzra? From then, to the latest time IC, how long has it been?

Probably a few years. Conata's grown up.

Narratively, a reasonable time to return to the scene would be after the upcoming Xerxes battle.

I'm guessing you're wondering when Ull'Yang will have finished his rebirth sequence, which would take 44 years. From what I've gathered, Logos didn't wait a very long time to attack Galbar and Jvan, and we've only had a period of time encompassing a month or two since the Realta attack. After the Xerxes battle, there should be enough free time for that 44 years to elapse completely, though. Maybe.

But what's temporal consistency?

Wow, those must've been the longest two days ever. ^^;

In any case, the flow of time isn't (or shouldn't be) so convoluted that it would allow Helvana to fight a Realta still in a purging run considering they stopped almost 3 weeks by the time she departed to the White Ocean. If I'm really into the idea of her fighting one, then I'll cook up a reason for her to meet it. Something like a Realta that was shot down, but not destroyed, by Teknall and went into hibernation maybe.

That was accounted for. The time warp is why Ull'Yang was able to supernova and regenerate within 44 Galbarian years rather than a few million Galbarian years.
