"You're thinking too much in modern English notions of what the word, 'love' means. In the bible, particularly the new testament, there are three types of love. Three words that we translate as love in our English translation. Agape, Philia, and Eros. Agape is the type of love a parent has for his child or a husband for his spouse. It's an all encompassing accepting love. Philia is a love of brotherly comradery and friendship. Eros is the type of erotic sensual lustful love, most commonly used for desire and sex. You are only mainly thinking of love in terms of Eros and a bit Agape, but completely neglecting the Philia brotherly love.
