She had no idea where she was going or what was already there. She had an idea of what was out here but she really just expected to see more rubble and downed buildings. She really wanted to go home and see what it looked like there. See if her parents were still there. As she was running, memories of that fateful day rushed forward. After being practically kidnapped by the military she was pushed into the bunker and she only had limited reception. She could text but not get good enough signal to make a call out. She had texted her mom and told her what happened. Her mom said that it was on tv that the world was ending and Harley should stay where they took her, that maybe she would have a chance. Her parents took a selfie of the two of them and sent it to her. She looked at it every morning and night. Not long after that the first of the space debris had hit. She remembered the commander being more militant back then, all of the military had been. She was scared when the asteroid had hit. Harley yelped as he hair caught on a low lying tree branch. She wondered about her house. If she was correct it wasn't but a few blocks past the treeline. In the last year it seemed to have overgrown and now there were inhabitants of the four legged persuasion. A very large dog snarled at her and she noticed immediately that it was sickly. She swallowed hard as it growled and started to gnash it's teeth at her. Her eyes filled with tears as she recognized the dog from her neighborhood. Her mind tried to remember the dog's name. Surprisingly, it still had a collar on and she saw the name "Ryder." The animal looked scared and hungry too. She didn't want to whisk the dog away in the water. Hoping that fresh water would help the dog she filled a small area on the ground with water and watched the dog drink. Afterwards she called it to her and hoped he would come to her. "Here Ryder." The dog drank til he made himself sick and then he drank more. Harley took the dog by the collar and played with him a little bit. "Come on boy, let's go see the commander. I'm sure he can help you." Harley walked three extra miles to get that dog back to the bunker. She had to go a way that the dog could go. She couldn't guarantee that he would make it if she tried to shove him up and over the cliff with her water so she walked him back in the dark. When they got back the sun had been down about 15 minutes. She walked him in and picked up the nearest intercom. "Commander please come to the main doors it's an emergency!" Harley waited and the commander came out of the office and as soon as he saw the dog he knew. "Harley? Are you okay?" She nodded, "I am but Ryder isn't. Please help him." She knelt down and petted the dog speaking softly to him. Other people came out of the cafeteria and watched as the Commander put his hands on the dog and a healing light came from his hands and returned the animal to perfect health. The dog raised his head and licked the man silly. Harley smiled and wiped her tears away. "Thank you. Thank you so much!" The dog followed Harley wherever she went. He followed and when he smelled the food he could barely control himself and he waited til she put a bowl on the ground for him. When it looked like one of the others would complain she stood up and said "Don't even think of complaining about him eating. I caught that pig not you!"
[@King Tai][@Wick][@Aeternum][@RumikoOhara][@Kyrisse][@Spinosaurus][@December][@Venku][@alexfangtalon][@POOHEAD189][@FunnyGuy][@dabombjk]
