It wasn't like there was much for her to do with her time after all. As the others returned, she looked them over, raising an eyebrow as she took in the fairly noticeable decrease in numbers. She was actually kind of concerned at the realisation, seeing as one of them had already disappeared earlier; if they kept losing people at this rate it might happen to someone she actually cared about. Well, that was unfair. She cared about all of her classmates' safety to a certain extent despite not being on the best of terms with a few of them - hence why she'd spent her lunchtime by herself in the first place. But even if she didn't have a high opinion of the whole facility, it seemed strange that this many people would go missing so suddenly. Suspicion was the primary expression on her face, then, as Fred returned to the classroom. She barely even glanced at the elective sheet, scribbling down the first order she could be bothered coming up with before once again glaring at the staff mage.
Art/Photography - 6 Creative Writing - 5 Woodworking - 3 P.E. - 1 Film Study - 7 Music Theory - 8 Home Ec - 2 Computer Science - 4
Her expression became somewhat less hostile once the game had been explained to them. At least this one wasn't an actual disappearance. Just a staff-permitted kidnapping. Actually, on second thoughts that didn't sound great either. With a sigh of irritation, Zoe decided she was going to start sleeping with her knife next to her bed. Or under her pillow. Maybe just in her hand, to be safe. Still, the prospect of this 'game' sounded kind of fun to her. Although at the same time, fun or not it didn't really play to her strengths at all. Out of everyone she knew of, her ability had to be one of the worst in this situation. To even use it, she'd have to get close enough for them to take a tag, and the non-lethal thing meant she'd have to really think about what she was doing. Of course, there was nothing she could do but try. After all, she had a team to look out for, and as long as she didn't get carried away there was no reason her ability would have to count as lethal. Besides, she had to put her money where her mouth was at some point, even if it wasn't in the best of conditions. Speaking of teams, she noted who she'd be working with. It seemed like the challenge would rely on teamwork quite a bit, so it was important that she could at least work with them. Looking at the names, she had mixed feelings about the whole thing. She couldn't remember ever meeting their 'healer', but Lawrence was pretty cool at least. Hazel she didn't know either, and as for Allison... Guess I'll have to try and smooth things over now. Fan-fucking-tastic. Resigning herself to the fact that she might have to actually try and be diplomatic, Zoe then took the time to look at their opposition's names on the board. Only knew two of their powers from what she could recall, those being Brent and Savannah. The others were a mystery. Of course, the problem with that was that the other team would probably know what she did by the time their fight started. Had she actually told her team about the skin-contact thing? Hopefully not, but she couldn't quite remember. As Fred walked out and the class started, she actually bothered to get up and grab a biology textbook, trying not to go too near the teacher in case she caught some sort of disease. Despite appearances, however, she wasn't actually doing it to be a good student. Instead, she spent her time studying the human body - mostly to figure out where would and wouldn't be classed as 'lethal damage' if she targeted it. Not that she had the time to get things completely certain, but by the end of the class she had a pretty good idea. As for chemistry, she returned to sitting staring at her desk for that period. Once Fred told them they were free to leave, she headed out of class with her requisitions in tow and straight back to her dorm.
Zoe figured she had about twenty minutes to sort everything out. Knowing what the game was, she eventually decided not to take anything with her, but that didn't mean she got out of preparing. Their first fight had reminded her that her limitations were a pain in the ass. She'd been lucky, but the fact was that she needed to think about being efficient eventually. Especially considering that there were other people counting on her whenever they had to go out. Even if this one was just a training exercise, didn't mean she could afford to start slacking, and limiting her attacking potential was a handicap she didn't need out there. So, it was time to face the music. Facing the music in this case, much to her irritation, basically meant wearing less clothes. While Zoe didn't exactly jump for joy at the prospect, the idea of getting her or someone else's ass kicked just because she was worried about people being creepy was even less fun. Besides, it wouldn't really bother her anyway considering there was a practical reason for it. Modesty had never really been her thing in the first place. At the same time, she was really starting to dislike her limitations.
After finally tracking down a sports bra and running shorts that were admittedly about as close to underwear as you could get without actually being classed as underwear, Zoe had joined the rest of the group to be escorted to Ground Zero, looking like she wasn't the slightest bit bothered by having had to change in the first place. She looked around the outpost, grabbing a cookie with a grin before turning her attention towards the monitor. From what Zoe could see they'd put at least a few of what seemed like the straight-up heavy hitters in the same fight. People like Chris once he transformed, or Callan, or the guy that went batshit crazy at the monster fight. It made sense to a certain degree for Zoe, at least in the 'making sure no-one kills each other by accident' kind of way. Seemed like this might be interesting. Besides, Zoe was kind of looking forward to writing her review of their performances. Hopefully it really was anonymous though, because she wasn't exactly in the habit of pulling punches.
