[@kingkonrad] I agree with that sentiment. The magic in ASOIAF, whenever it shows up, has to feel dangerous and otherworldly, beyond the comprehension of most mortals. 

[@Masterkeun] Where does it say that wargs get stronger that way? Well we can see that even if the magic doesn't require a sacrifice, lots of effort has to go into it. The road to being a Faceless Man is very extreme for example; and mystics like Euron Greyjoy have to devote decades to the study.
