Vast civilizations from long ago have tamed the stars, only to wipe each other out in an effort to subdue one another. For thousands of years, these old factions eventually drove one another to extinction, never to be seen again... In the ashes of the old world, a new one rises like a glorious phoenix, waiting to prove to all that it will be more grand than it was in its old life. It has been only a few thousand years since the old civilizations died out, leaving a gap in power throughout the galaxy. In the ages since, the races of the galaxy have risen up to claim glory for themselves and exert their will over the rest of the galaxy, at whatever cost necessary. In addition, I plan for this RP to be very in-depth in terms of both character development and nation-building, very much like the last incarnation before the old RPG died off. Instead of making five different tiny rules, I'm going to simply say this: Don't be a dick. In other words, treat others with respect, don't butcher the English language, and don't wave your epeen in everyone's faces. This includes abusing the system. 2. This RP is intended for high-quality posts. If you've got little experience roleplaying, you've still got a spot here. Just be fully aware though, that one-liners simply will not fly. 3. Anyone making a faction full of overpowered and simply over-the-top people will be dragged out into the streets, and then fed to the wolves. You know who you are. If you really want a race of badasses, they're going to have equally bad weaknesses. 4. For the love of God, please do NOT make a Mary Sue or Gary Stu faction, OR character. I've seen enough non-creativity in my 22 years to last five lifetimes. 5. All factions can be defeated. All factions can die. All characters can experience defeat. All characters can die. While player-controlled characters (and to an extent PC factions) have obvious priority, they are not invincible, and BY NO MEANS are they unstoppable. Anyone who makes a character or faction that breaks this rule (or even attempts to) will be thrown into the streets, then fed to the wolves. 6. Not everyone can be the Big Bad. Be aware of this as you create your NS. 7. Because I simply LOVE writing rules down, I'll simply add another to the list to waste some space.[/hider] [hider=Banned Technologies]After careful consideration, I have determined that a certain few things are best not found here, for any number of reasons. 1. [b]Space Magic[/b] of any kind, for obvious reasons. Gray areas in technology are permitted, but don't push your luck. If it sounds unreasonable and completely outlandish, it just might be the case. 2. [b]Time Travel, Time Dilation[/b], or anything having to do with mucking around with time are not permitted. No exceptions. 3. [b]Teleportation[/b] is not allowed in any form. That includes [b]Instantaneous Travel[/b], for obvious reasons. (Sorry, but that includes most versions of Stargates as well.) 4. [b]Black Holes[/b] and very similar singularities are also on this list. You can use singularities, just not that particular kind. 5. [b]Telepathy[/b] is not allowed under most circumstances, including biological telepathy. This is too easily abused, and is hence on the ban list. Talk to me first if you insist on using it in spite. 6. [b]Telekinesis[/b], and [b]Psionics[/b] are strictly banned. 7. Other technologies that are either overpowered, or not conducive to the setting are not allowed. In addition, anything that turns your factions into Mary Sues and Gary Stus will be fed to the wolves.
