So, interest thread.

I tried to write up one a few hours ago to be honest, was charting out the rules and how I put everything together and then realized, that's not an interest thread that's the actual RP's first OOC post right?
I'll make sure to put all the rules and mechanics up tomorrow, or in a few days, assuming people have any amount of interest. For this first bit though I'll just give some premise and see what you fine folk think.



The basic idea is simple. Your character has been abducted and wakes up in a weird mansion. Over the intercom they are told that they have been brought from various places and times and must escape, and if they do they'll get any one wish granted for good measure.
You would be aloud to choose a character from nearly anything, be it Tolkien elf, space marine, vampire hunter or any other such thing. Could even choose your favorite character from a book, movie or what have you. Of course there would be limitations but the basic idea is that all these people from hugely different worlds are now trapped in a big house and have to get out somehow while a voice on the intercom pokes fun at them.

So... would anyone be interested in such a dance, I'll be more than willing to share all the rules and how I'm putting it all together and what-not.

two is most certainly more than zero, though I'd like if at least six were partaking before beginning this little game.

However since it has been a couple of days since this came out I should include bits of the rules so as to further spark interest and bump this thread up and into sight.



Of course the first rule surely draws out the question, what do I mean by three actions a day?
In order to maintain a reasonable pace that is neither too fast nor too slow I have created this rule, however what is or isn't counted as an action? There are five types of action, some of which don't eat into one's daily actions.

USE: One uses an item either on their person or nearby on another nearby item or fixture, uses 1 action
TALK: One converses with someone in the same room as them, this is a free action regardless of the length of the exchange, so long as neither party preforms any other action during the conversation.
INTERACT: One uses or takes a nearby item, be it pulling a lever, picking up a key, etc. Uses 1 action
EXAMINE: One gazes at, peers into, and otherwise looks at an item in a room, or the room in general. So long as the examining party doesn't in some way INTERACT or USE the thing(s) they are looking at EXAMINING is a free action
MOVE: One moves from the room they are in to a adjoining room. This uses 1 action.

Unfortunately this doesn't really seem to be my sort of RP. I might have given it a shot, but I have a couple other RPs I'm in that are eating up my time and I don't want to really take any more when I'm still waiting to hear back about a job that I kind of need.

A pity, I was hoping for more interest, but tis life.

I don't see much point to starting this game without at least six people, so unless some more people find this and show interest in it this little dance we won't be starting. So... if you two have more friends who would be interested feel free to invite them over, but otherwise this thing isn't happening sadly.

Sounds like a fun time - I'll be keeping an eye on this.

I might as well toss in my interest; it'll be just as good as anything for trying to get back in the game. Count me in.

Well, four is twice as much as two, and much more than zero, so I guess I really ought to drop more info and keep interest up.

Tomorrow I'll get the OOC up and start taking applications, but until then I'll tell you fine lot about how you'll be navigating this mansion.

The first thing to note is that I needed to design this mansion so that it could accommodate a variable number of players, since I could never know just how much interest this would garner. I also didn't want to bog things down with grids and numbers and math, which is the reason behind the second rule listed above as well.
To these ends I decided to not draw up a floor plan of the manor but instead I have woven a web. Each room is akin to a bubble, connected to the other rooms by lines and thus forming a web that makes up the building.
The lines that connect the 'bubbles' take the form of hallways, doors, secret passages, etc.

Hopefully I explained this in a reasonable manner. I don't I have but that could be self-doubt. Anyways as I've stated before, throw at me any questions if you'd kindly and I'll answer them best I can. Tomorrow I'll try to get the OOC up so that we can get this moving, though life is what it is we'll see what happens. Until then my colleagues.
