Being adept pyromancers, and being the first house, in ages long past, to civilise the once barbaric southern territories and settle it for themselves and the good of the kingdom. These two traits are reflected in the titles given to the current patriarch or matriarch, all of whom gain the titles 'Keeper of the Flames,' and 'Lawbringer,' upon coming to power. Kovalenko is an often secluded house however, and tend not to busy themselves with politics. The south, being both mountainous and quite arid, still holds all manner of bandits and other beasts. Quashing these 'characters' is a matter that house Kovalenko takes no small pride in, viewing themselves as the wall that guards the rest of the kingdom against attack. Lands and Ownership: Huge swathes of the south lands. Kovalenko is the, hands down, largest house in terms of territory owned, but much of it is desert unfit for human habitation. Most of the land that is fit is farmland, although there is also an unusually large amount of magical academies in order to train the unusually high number of pyromancers the land produces. Autobiographical Knowledge: Lady Anastasia was born and raised to become keeper of the flame, being the eldest daughter, and indeed child, of her parents. In Kovalenko, when one parent dies, their child rules alongside the other parent, until such time as the child marries, upon which the remaining parent (or sibling, should the parent die,) steps down, in order for the new lord and lady to rule. This means that all Kovalenko children must be taught the values of leadership and how to conduct themselves at an early age, which Anastasia took to well, being an animated, if a little impatient, learner, something which has tempered with age. She, like many other Kovalenko lords, including both of her parents, showed an aptitude for fire magic, and she was trained in that too, from as soon as she was deemed able to. Portrait: Lady Anastasia, or if you're one of her few friends, Ana, is a tall woman of about six foot, with long golden hair kept tied back in a complicated and ornate hairstyle that only the nobles can really afford to have. Unlike the vast majority of the peasantry, she has pale skin, almost alabaster, although her hands are covered in numerous scars, which she covers up with gloves no matter what company she is in. Her eyes are a greyish blue, albeit more grey than blue, and she speaks in a particularly strong accent.
