@GrimhildrWhat browser are you using? Perhaps an extension is messing with things? Have you tested in a different browser, updating your browser, or using incognito mode?

Not a tech expert, but it feels like a user-side issue. I'm on Google Chrome (both desktop and mobile), and I haven't had that issue yet.

i'm using firefox. i feel like it might have been one of my addons that caused the issue, which is seriously annoying, but i'll be happy just using pms and test threads because fuck going through all my addons to potentially have to remove one i regularly use

I've had similar issues before but it's always been solved by a page refresh. Could be a lag in the site loading and it's glitched out. Not a programmer so that could be all wrong. :P

i don't think refreshing will work, because it does it no matter what page i'm on, including my pm to myself.

@Grimhildr It's possible that you're getting a Javascript error which will stop further Javascript execution on the page (which may include the Javascript that paints and controls the editor).

Could you open your browser's Javascript console, then try to replicate the issue and tell me if you see any errors pop up?

That's the best way for me to figure out what might be going on.

But I'll take a look at the code changes I made anyway over the last 2 weeks to the editor. They include the post-revision system and the autosave system, so one of them may have introduced a regression that only shows up for a few people. :(

@Lady Amalthea
>Was there an update to allow Gm's to see hidden posts in their topic? Or is this a glitch?

I meant to just let GMs see the 0th post which can be hidden/unhidden, not all hidden posts in the topic. Not a big deal to me though.

The main issue now is that hidden posts are ugly , so I'd like to tweak the UI to make them a lil less of an eyesore. Like minimize them into a single 10px-high bar with a "Show Deleted Post" button. Been saying I'd do this for a while but UI stuff is always a grind.

@Buddha
>How long until we can change our usernames? Possibly on a max-change thing, like once every 3 months?

I don't have an estimation for when the feature will land, but yeah, it'd be once every 3 or 6 months.

I'm planning for usernames to be taken forever where /users/{oldName} will redirect to /users/{newName}, but I think I can make an exception if the account has 0 posts and PMs like that Odin account.

I'll look at the database right now to see what changes I need to make to allow username updates.

@KoL @Crimmy
>0th post visible on every page

I think this is a good idea. It's just more of a UI concern in that I think it'd be best for it to be minimized on pages after the first page with a "Show 0th post" button.

One of the short-term features I'm working on is to bring back the ability for you to delete your own posts.

I know a lot of people want this, but I had to disable it shortly after introducing it due to an issue that I think might have a simple work-around that I'm playing with today.

There are also some quirks with the autosave feature that can be confusing in some cases as mentioned on the previous page. The least I can do is plead with the user to only open one browser tab for a topic while they are writing a post.

I'd also like to implement autosaving for edits (instead of just new posts) on the horizon.

@Grimhildr Yeah, looks like pagemod.js is related to Firefox extensions.

The question is whether or not the Guild is doing something weird that interferes with Firefox in general.

I'll use Firefox as my daily Guild browser to see if I run into anything myself.

we have no issues like that and we used firefox, @Mahz. Therefore, extensions sounds plausible.

I'm using Firefox permanently and I have never had an issue like that, ever. @Grimhildr I also can say with relative certainty it's not the dark firefox plugin or the dark youtube plugin that we have, because I don't have problems with whatever you're having problems with either.

well, that's a relief.

i still don't know why this is happening, though, but at least it's not my two major addons doing it. i've used firefox for the entirety of my guild stay (almost 2 years now), and it's never happened before.

@Grimhildr It might be worth while to go through and reinstall your addons, and if the problem still occurs, to reinstall Firefox itself. In my time I've seen some odd bugs and I think the worse one was when all my images somehow pulled the wrong line of code off a website, so smileys were wrong, site backgrounds were made of avatars and all sorts of weird stuff. I think that was a virus cause I had to uninstall Firefox and the residue files to fix it.

So yeah, start replacing the addons and backup your settings.

@GrimhildrYou should also be able to disable add-ons one at a time. This would help you determine which is at fault without having to reinstall all of the things.

@Odin Okay, I implemented username changes.

roleplayerguild.com/users/buddha redirects to your new profile url roleplayerguild.com/users/odin

I'll also have to add "previous usernames" to the user profile that should show up for at least a few months after a username change so people know who you are.

Username changes are limited to one every three months, though right now you must ask a moderator to do it for you. And if you want a banned/dead account's username, you must ask me so I'm the only one that can recycle.

I coded it so that you can change your own username, but the only thing stopping me from enabling it is that Guildbot currently doesn't have a good way to syncing username changes to Discord.

The system is somewhat complex in that the forum now tracks historical usernames and whether or not they are recyclable. If a user cannot be found, the forum also checks the username history table to see if an old username should redirect to a new username.

So there might be some bugs. If you want a username change, just PM me.

i've tested every single addon that i got around the time of the bug occurring, and none of them are the cause for the bug. i didn't try all my other addons because i've had them for ages and never got this issue.

@BingTheWing No. Though the image will max out at 100% post width.

Ideally the Guild would have a nice drag-and-drop image solution that rehosts it and lets you resize it.

@Grimhildr Does that mean you can replicate the issue in a fresh Firefox profile window / incognito window (whichever way you can create a window without add-ons)?

If not, then another possibility is that, since Firefox add-ons auto-update, an older add-on could be causing problems now that it wasn't in the past.

@ArenaSnow I've noticed this with some other avatars as well.

For whatever reason, the image resizer breaks on some gifs. I'll add it to my TODO list. Might have an easy fix or something.
