@JbcoolWell when he took control of the equipment/weapons for selling stuff, as well as when he was a law enforcer, he'd gotten familiar with various types of equipment. Though I could have him become the quartermaster of his unit when he was in the military.

Hmmm.
Hmmmmmmmm.

I would like to forward my interest, specifically in filling a hole that doesn't look like it has been considered, and put forth an application for a medic. But I do have a few questions that you may have answered and I missed, so forgive me if any these are redundant:

How advanced is technology? I know you listed several series that I am unfamiliar with, but just a galactic average on computer science, data storage, food processing, flight technology, etc, would be neat. I understand GURPS Tech Levels, if that helps.

You did say that aliens were okay, but also said you wanted a mostly human team. Xenobiology would kind of be necessary either way, I suppose, but how many species are well known enough for a human to learn medical practises for them?

More on tech: How are you getting around the travel times between stars? FTL, cold storage, something else fun and exciting?

If I do end up making an alien, precisely how truly alien can I get? Size would be a problem on a human built ship, as would certain biological issues, so that question becomes somewhat important.

And lastly, how do you feel about AIs?

Good questions, and I'll try to answer them as much as I can;

1. Technology, at the highest level, is beyond much of what we have today - I'd say Star Trek/Wars level of technology for a reference point. It does vary from place-to-place and civilisation to another one, meaning that some planets are still stuck in the Stone Age while others could annihilate them with supersonic bombs or such.

2. As many as you want, this is as much my narrative as your own, so if you wish for there to be a few that are well known then that's fine. Humanity has spread far-and-wide, so as long as they're not exceedingly high numbers it'd make sense.

3. FTL is the usual mode of transport, using said 'gates' as way-points and strategic choke points, like 'warp travel' but more restricted and less random.

4. Again, as alien or non-alien as you like, we've not even started the actual narrative yet, so we'd be able to wrangle some specifics for the character before going forward I'd think.

5. AI is fine, if rarer than usual - mostly depends on what you mean, as in sentient robots or nano-tech.

I realise I'm not helping much, and I apologise, but the specifics of many things are going to be decided within the IC itself; if you've got more questions, or want me to extrapolate on some points then I can.

@POOHEAD189 Sounds good!

@IrishAngelQueen I look forward to it. :)

@Tsar Gatto Sheet looks excellent, and I hope you're still about.

I am looking for some sort of art to help with visualisation, but it's been somewhat difficult to find anything that isn't a damn bug.

And here he is. Fair warning to those of you who mentioned elves earlier, his race is based on the nordic version of light elves. What can I say? *shrug* I like to use mythology for inspiration.

@Indy Cooper That is a pretty much perfect sheet, something I rarely see (including in my own writing!) So all I can say is that you and your character are both very welcome to the RP. Feel free to post it up in the Char tab when you like.

@POOHEAD189 and @Tsar Gatto, your sheets are also good to go, so feel free to post them up as well.

@IrishAngelQueen Not sure anyone mentioned Elves And, while some of the profile does seem a wee bit too 'magical' for a sci-fi based RP, I'll allow it, since none of it really defies anything. There's shape-changers in other sci-fi genres, so I can let it slide as long as you don't go overboard with it.

Apart from that, all these sheets look good, can all be posted in the Char tab when you're all ready, and I shall see about getting an initial IC post up within the next few days.

Hello gents. This RP looks like what I have been craving for for a while. I have checked over all the open positions on the ship, but I see a lack of Security post/resident brawler.

@Synthorian That'll be because we're not a ship crew, we're mercenaries, a company of, and by default are therefore ALL security/brawlers anyway. :D

Welcome to the thread, pleasure to have you here.

Great! So assuming from what I read of the Ooc Op, custom races are A-OK?

Alright, sweet. I did say that the shapechanger ability was genetic, though, did I not? Pretty sure I did. Anyway...I'll Put Amaranth in the Character tab.

Still definitely lurking around.

On my way home now and gonna polish up the sheet a little more prior to moving him across, but definitely liking the look of the cast coming together.

@Synthorian fairly certain they are indeed as long as they fit the whole theme and whatnot, however our 'mostly human' cast isn't turning out that way - so I'd wait to see what @Jbcool reccomends.

@Tsar Gatto I do have a custom race in mind that would suit this wonderfully. Tylons are soldiers from birth, so seeking war for them is second nature. Money, not so much. They don't understand how virtual numbers or paper notes have any value.

@Jbcool Hi. So I still have a human linguist character from a civilization basically inspired by the Bonfire of the Vanities. I see that role is taken now, perhaps I could rewrite them to fit another role if you're still accepting?

@Iuniper Pretty sure we are? But I'm not in charge, so...

@Synthorian So just, like, love of battle? Mercenary work is definitely the way to go. I don't know the regular armies would like bloodthirst so much as obedience.

@Indy Cooper Exactly that. Their species thrives on war. So mercenary work for them tends to be the best option if they are exiled or if they get bored of civilian life

Not quite sure if I can count this morning (as I am missing my glasses), but it seems there is: a medic, linguist/interpreter, quartermaster, scout (what I seemed to read from Tsar's sheet), and a straight-mercenary. Not sure if engineer and paymaster are still reserved as Jeyma had taken an interest in them.

I think Jeyma is still working on a CS, so until that is up I have no idea which of those roles they'd take. The rest of that count is probably more accurate than anything I'd come up with.

Sounds good.

@Jeyma Which role is your character taking?
