@Goliah Don't feel too bad, I want this thing to just have people posting in it. :P

6/10 I feel his vocals (which I know are the point.) Don't really work for a song like this, it's so simple lyrically. It feels like a pop song drained of all it's energy, with the typical way he sings. The chorus's kind of tricks me into thinking it's a boring song. But it's not, the guitar in the intro is good, the solo in the middle was good and the instrumental itself is fine too. I've heard better type o negative songs is my point. The whole over a minute of footsteps and a train is also pretty lazy ambience in the background that seems like it's just wasting time. (I also did the extra mile, to check the song after this on the album and it doesn't really mesh in the slightest. And apparently the song itself is a tribute to his father? Which makes it more bizarre that it seems so lazily written.)

I'm unsure if I want to post songs I already know about, or more of the newer stuff that I found during my music binges. (I guess we'll go with new stuff to balance it out.)

@SleepingSilence I actually liked that more than I thought I would. 7.5-8/10. Had a Barenaked Ladies/Butthole Surfers/They Might Be Giants feel to it and there needs to be more music like that, in my opinion. I also started to have flashbacks to when I used to watch Crusty Demons of Dirt back in high school xD

Now for some Australian Hip-Hop

7.5/10 I also liked this more than I thought I would. :P Not sure how impressive this really is on a rapping level, but it's fun.

@SleepingSilence Not bad, good background music to zone out to and I could see a Twitch streamer I like playing this in the background while they game. 6.5/10.

I was only just introduced to these guys not too long ago. I'd heard them here and there but I never knew who they were. It was tough picking which one to post, since Free, Pretty When You Cry and Song without a Name have quickly become some of my favourite songs.

That was a really interesting piece. I loved the instrumentals, and the background vocal line was okay as long as there was something more powerful to restrict it to the background, but when everything else got quiet I thought it was a bit too pervasive. Otherwise, I quite enjoyed the song as a whole. It's got a good bit of intensity to it, and I couldn't help but try to think of a scene from a movie to try to match it to (I haven't, yet). 7.5/10

@Goliah Odd, most twitch streamers tend to have edm, electronica or if anything hard rock/metal. Actually I've been meaning to listen to these guys fully, because the songs I've heard have been good. But their videos are a little weird. The acoustic version of this song has an actual video to it, it's nice too though I prefer the original.

I also understand, falling in love with a band you discover only recently. At least some of 'The Dear Hunter' has literally been playing nonstop since I found them. Haha. As a man who loves concept albums, this endlessly scratches that itch wonderfully.

8.5/10 Well speaking of bands I may have to look at further. That was pretty enjoyable. (The chanting instantly reminded of me of this for some reason.) I was a bit worried at first that the chanting was going to be the only thing it had, but I'm glad I was wrong. (Also listened to Free, not as good but also enjoyable rock.)

@TheMadAsshatter (You Ninja'd me. :P) 7/10 Enjoyable song. Simple good rock. Definitely the vocalist carrying the song.

Now this isn't exactly fantastic, but I do wish the pop charts actually had more stuff like this on it.

@SleepingSilence, I don't know how to rate the song since I don't really listen to pop music that much, but the song is actually pretty good and enjoyable enough to listen to. It's relaxing and has inspiring enough lyrics even if they're a bit lacking in creativity, I think. It's better than average like you said, so a 6/10 maybe, but perhaps I'm not giving it enough credit.

@Spoopy Scary 8/10. I don't know why, but among other things I've been really getting into a lot of psychadelic stuff, it's like a genre I never took the time to explore.

Speaking of which:

@Spoopy Scary Seems fair enough. I gave her album a shot earlier tonight, and though she clearly is putting effort in it, it's fairly standard guitar pop stuff. (Wasn't a big fan of it.) That's probably her strongest song, has the best hook.

5/10 Psychedelic is a genre I don't have much experience with either. And it is midnight, so maybe it's akin to me being tired. But when it finished it felt like I just listened to one riff for 3 minutes. (I listened to it twice.) But it wasn't one that kept me engaged, the lyrics can barely be made out from the effects and music, and probably weren't meant to be focus. But the instrumental just doesn't do much for me.
(I do appreciate that they have a song called "Found God in a Tomato.")

@Goliah Another ninja. I'm type so slow at night. DX

7/10 I appreciate the variety of the song and the vocalist and music sounding clear. You can definitely tell it's a drummer's side project. Some really good drumming on this track.

@SleepingSilence 7/10.

That was unexpectedly deep and a little hard hitting. Reminds me a lot of Eminem. I didn't love it but it was good. I feel a bit more interesting instrumental arrangement and chorus might've catapulted it to a higher grade for me.

@SleepingSilence First impression (~10 seconds in). Right to the chase. Sounds like we're keeping the pop-punk trend going a bit. (~45 seconds). Tempo change just for shits and giggles. Those always put me off a little bit, but on second thought I like how it doesn't quite stick to the traditional musical formula. (~1:30). I do like the overlapping vocals in the chorus a lot. It adds a certain gravity to the song that bolsters an already strong instrumental line. (~2:45) That outgoing vocal line. Holy shit, that's good. (The end) Well, that was abrupt.

Now, looking at the overall piece and having listened to it again, it's definitely a pleasing song to listen to. I don't know why, but I always enjoy a song with an overall sense of urgency, emotion, or desperation to it. Without getting too touchy-feely, I feel like it evokes something inside me on a primal level, and this song reaches that part of me pretty well. It's a bit hard to follow, given it's odd composition and fast transitions between different parts of the song, but the overall instrumental and vocal performances are really good, and everything jives pretty well on that point. Nothing, at any point, doesn't sound like it has it's part to play in making the sound what it should be, so it's at least well put together if nothing else. That and the way it reaches me makes it pretty damn good in my opinion. 7.8/10.

Now for some Bosnian propaganda.

@TheMadAsshatter Good detailed rating. ;P Sometimes songs take multiple listens, certainly did for me.

Meme/10 4/10 As something that seems like a shitpost song, I've heard worse but I'm just kind of "what am I listening to?" right now.

Since my roommate is impatient, I guess I'll also just throw a random song I found during a music binge.

@SleepingSilence 6.5/10 It's kind of funky, I like it. It's good zone-out background music.

I like listening to this from time to time, one of those rare clean male vocalists I like.

@Gin Maybe post one and I'll tell ya what I think. XP

@Goliah Ah. Blue October. The band that wrote "Hate Me" then "Jump Rope". :P I enjoy most of their stuff. I'm on vacation, so my mind is switched off, or I'd recommend some similar vocalists. 7/10 Good.

Because I have no time. (and can't figure out how to link YouTube on my phone.) I sarcastically happily present the most boring song on earth.

@Gin I'd heard about this release a while ago, but haven't given it an honest listen. I'm not a big 'post-black metal' fan, but I enjoyed the composition of the song and musicianship. At last, saxophone metal! I didn't know what to expect after hearing about the use of sax, but it was an interesting compliment to the track, and didn't run it off the rails. I feel like there's a blend of traditional black metal and shoegaze in there, which feels profound at first, but also ends up leaving me a bit disappointed and wanting something heavier. The sound is a little bright/modern for my tastes, but the construction of the song makes up for it.

I'll throw it a 7/10.

Brand new WITTR track from an upcoming album. Song is 9 minutes 36 seconds and touches on many different styles of black metal across its span, with some acoustic and etheral-sounding elements.

@Gin... You're doing it wrong! You're supposed to give us another song and keep the train going!

Guess I gotta intervene.
