Sorry for continuing to delay on that :P To non-hain, it is very difficult to tell the sexes apart due to their egg-laying nature removing much of the precedent for prominence of 'the bits what people shake in hip-hop videos.' The most obvious differences are that males tend to be slightly taller and broader shouldered. However, as people hang around hain for long enough will tell you, there are subtle differences to the shapes of their heads and certain shell plates that repeat across males and females that give them away. It's kind of like when you start noticing the subtle differences between identical twins when you hang around them for long enough.
