[@Dusksong] Do you want to know the secret that humans are too afraid to admit? All throughout history there have been anomaly that have terrified our minds. These anomaly most times always come at a cost to those who discover them, some things in this universe are not meant to be seen by human eye. It is not because these anomaly wish to remain unknown but it was because there are things in this universe that humans are not meant to understand or comprehend. We often pride ourselves on being the smartest sentient life in the known universe, but this way of thinking is false, it is an illusion drilled into our minds from a young age, to believe we are creations greatest achievement. This is nothing more then a mechanism we alone created to shield us from the undeniable truth, the secret were too afraid to acknowledge, that humans are not the pinnacle of creation. There are things out there that could wipe us away, no harder then one would wipe away water spilled on a glass surface. Humans are afraid of the unknown because it is inherit for us to want to be in control of everything, to be in control of our lives, our universe. The truth we can not seem to acknowledge is we have no control, for it is the unknown that control over us. We can hide from it, shield ourselves from it, fight it with everything we create, but in the end the unknown will always win. Ignorance is bliss, a sentiment I so longingly wish I could go back to, but once you see the unknown with your own eye's, well... there is no going back home, returning to your life before. Some things are too painful, and they leave scars deep within you and open wounds that can not heal, and you know deep down that you can never return to a simple life. I believe that there is a way to find peace in myself, that there is a way to live happy knowing the truth. But I know that finding it will hurt more and cause even deeper scars. Its not a question if it exists, it is a question of how far and how much pain your willing to suffer to find it. - Ian Bannister "Ignorance is bliss." The voice was deep, the words came out as somewhat of a light southern accent covered by a scratchy undertone of one who had his throat damaged. Cass stood up within the cell as he locked eye's with the mercenary who stood before him, the reaction was almost instantaneous as the man before him grabbed his head with both hands. He covered his ear's as his face contorted with overwhelming pain that felt like a cutting migraine ripping his brain to pieces inside of his own head. His mouth opened wide as he screamed violently, uncontrollably. The other mercenaries jumped from their seats in a panic as they ran to their ailing comrade but it was no little comfort are avail as they were thrown back in a panic induced by the pain within his head, the adrenaline coursing through their friends body overpowering. "Make it stop! Make it stop! MAKE THE VOICE STOP!" The man screamed the words, his voice cracking from the pain, he fell to his knee's heavily with a thud on the metal lining of the floor, his eye's were wide as red lines jutted through the sclera. The screams of the other mercenaries were little to nothing to the man now, he could not hear them as they tried again to grab him, to restrain him but he stood like a man possessed and threw them all back with a manic rage. As the men hit the ground the mercenary made his way forward releasing his hands from his ears, he held out his hand as Cass looked down at his right arm. With his other hand he placed his fingers near the center of his arm as a compartment open within his forearm. Inside it was the electrified rod surrounded by mechanical technology, ripping the rod out of his arm, Cass clicked it to life as it extended right as the mercenary hit the release on his cell, the screen that imprisoned him went down as Cass drove the rod into the mans neck. He launched forward and grabbed him as the surge of electricity drove his body numb, in one fell movement he turned him around and wrapped his arm around his neck and locked it in just in time for the other mercenaries to get back to their feet looking on him in shock but more in confusion. It seemed that the entire world had stopped for everyone in the room, prisoner and mercenary alike just looked on in disbelief and mass confusion. "Would you like to know the secret humans are too afraid to admit? Well that secrets quite simple, you see men like yourselves come to believe that your always in control. The truth well, the truth is that control is an illusion, a vague concept really, meant to bring us a meaningless comfort so we can sleep at night. Everything in this existence has meaning and purpose, every event, even breath has a reason to be. Right now your wondering what to do so your friend does not suffer an unfortunate death, well let me make it simple for you. Your reason to exist at this exact moment, the reason for this exact event, is your going to move out of my way. I am going to jettison myself from this ship to the planet we will soon be passing, my reasons for this are my own, I have no wish to hurt this man anymore or to take his life. I am not like this filth in these cells regardless of what you THINK you know about me. But have no illusions I will kill him if you force my hand and then you will see something you will never go back from. I am ready to do what is necessary to obtain my goals, the question is... are you ready to risk the life of your friend for one prisoner whom means nothing to anyone?" The sudden impact was hard, hard as a car going one hundred miles and hour and slamming into a wall, the entire ship rocked violently and everyone within the make shift prison was launched off their feet slamming into the floor and walls they were nearby. The lights in the area went dark as they exploded in a cascade of sparks, the alarms on the ship suddenly went off, they were deafening. The loud creaking came suddenly, the sound of metal being pulled at great strengths. Somewhere in the ship their was a violent sounding explosion as the wall caved in completely from unknown damage and the vacuum of space flooded the ship like a whirlwind pulling everything not latched down out into the inky blackness of nothingness. The ship quickly loses power to the engines and the controls become useless in the wake of the unknown force that hit it. Dead like an EMP went off the ship slips into the gravity of the huge planet off to the left. Everything was spinning as Cass came to, the alarms were blaring in his ears as he could feel warmth dripping down his forehead. He looked up to see the entire area blanketed in red light provided by emergency power. What had happened and what the hell was going on, his head pounded, his brain thumping violently against his skull as he made it shakily back to his feet. It didn't matter now, he had to make it to an escape pod and get off the ship. Cass walked forward as the entire ship seemed to moving in a downward motion, the table nearby was sliding slowly in a slant towards the far wall. Cass hit the wall shoulder first as the dizziness hit him hard but slowly subsided, nearby one of the mercenaries whom was regaining consciousness began trying to get back up. Cass walked over to him slowly and without hesitation drove his bare foot into the mans head knocking him unconscious. Feeling the sudden pain in his side after the kick Cass reached down, a small shard of glass was sticking out of his side. Gritting his teeth Cass inhaled hard and grunted as he grabbed the chunk of glass at its edges, he clinched his teeth together hard as he ripped the shard of glass out throwing it away. He let out his breath as he quickly ripped off a chunk of his shirt and rolled it up pressing it over the wound. He had to move, had to get to the escape pods, he did not know what the hell was happening but he knew that the downward motion and the absent sound of the engine and the slow movement of the ship meant they were being pulled by a gravity well. Without power the ship would tear itself apart in the atmosphere of the large planet they were now going to collide with.
