Anubis' Tomb

Egyptian pyramids are archaeologist’s prized discoveries, an open gateway into an arcane world where pharaohs die with their treasures. Emperors ceaselessly tire their existences for immortality on the back of countless slaves, erecting monolithic tombs excavating profound burial chambers were Inpu escorts fallen kings through a valley of deceased men. Scholars across the world marvel at its structural design. The monumental edifice bound 2 wandering spirits inside, locked inside eroding desert stone stacked like stairs to an ascension to where ancient Gods welcomed dead rulers. A towering square pyramid (square base, for those not familiar with pyramid designs) jetting from sand with a fading bronze tint on resilient limestone, crackling with age beneath a golden radiance of Ra eclipsing a blue-sky. Each rock mounted on one another in a symmetrical square where weight distributed from the zenith decreases, but the Pyramidion decayed to an octagonal formation being chipped to a mangle malformation it dutifully represented.

The pyramid’s battered surface belies a deeper significance having a colossally greater volume than Khufu stone flag resting in Giza’s plateau. Its location obscured by electronic interference that subvert satellite surveillance, and depicts normal mountain ranges where this behemoth of ancient ingenuity slept. This anomaly went undetected by several nations as electromagnetic disturbances were accounted for by sandstorms and terrestrial heat, but few explorers unearthed truths far exceeding humanity’s expectations.. and seldom shared them. The pyramid is wedged in a very deep chasm where a single side is against bedrock for thousands of years, keeping itself camouflaged from marauders and gravediggers alike as a disguised mountain slope. Many that are aware understood the unwitting coincidence of nature, but a minority of the cabal believed it was engineered this way.

Now the interior of this mammoth construct is where a cacophony between two kindred spirits would convene. When one enters from a lavish entrance crusted in gold they would meet a walking path with sandstones carefully fixed on either side of said trail, 3 inch stones placed and 8 feet spaced apart. The floor adjacent contained beautiful stone carvings of mysterious Sumerian cuneiform, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and even Cretan inscriptions throughout the floor. The sanctum, with all its diverse pictographs chiseled on the floor, is not without a robust amount of dimension. The room appeared 200' wide by 400' long, its ceiling height far beyond human reach at staggering 500' where square columns can be seen further down. When one continues to traverse this walkway they would notice a slant floor 97' from their entry. It appears at a certain distance, the floor elevation for the entire chamber shifts 6 feet above normal with a 45 degree slope. One could assume as they continue to walk, they will meet another hill-esque floor raise until the last 97' feet is met where an intimidating 25' statue of Osiris standong on top a conquered 30' Inpu.

The ebony canine deity lying beneath a sole sandal of gold resting its position with scepter n hand skewed onto the fallen’s back. He lay motionless on his belly like a serpent, arms spaced as one would expect from a vanquished foe. Osiris was made of silver that seem to age to a proper teal, his helm bronze and define chest bare with scars engraved unto his muscular visage. The silver underworld king knelt before any person that approached, handing out a throne made of the exotic yellow metal. A skeleton seated comfortably in garbs too old to date and jewelry far too expensive to yield. Whomever burial chamber belong to may have left the hint: he falls to the underworld -- killing death.

Throughout the exquisite tapestry of ancient ceramics lining the merigold walls were pillars of vintage Egyptian hieroglyphics etched in navy blue. These posts towered far above human height as they merged with the ceiling, although it appears one scaffolding remained somehow untouched but apparently much more modern than these chambers allowed. These daises were accessible by degenerated pieces of lumber scattered adjacent each pillar, and the area of each column is 20x20' thick of unadulterated stone. Traces of marble faintly gleamed behind stained sand that has accumulated for millenniums, dousing the floor in grain older than most civilizations through small ventilations near the ceiling, but most were congested by debris from broken stone, other statues on upper levels, or harden sand.

Light was provided by several unfathomable sources found throughout and one particular instance was the very ground itself. It produced a significant amount of an apricot luminescence without compromising one’s ability to see, but how this was accomplished remained unseen. Torches grafted on walls and revealing a brown luster from a shimmering red core it radiated, leaving most of the ambiance in a vague blonde luster where light couldn’t reach the upper echelon of the chamber. Then onto Osiris with his snarling complexion brought about a supernatural glow of red from every eye of his scowl, the entire area surrounding him concealed in a faint aura of cherry and honey luminosity that one could identify his defined and timeless features from the doorway. Despite how well lit this exaggerating room was, darkness lurked about the far end pillars, corners, and the entirety of the ceiling was poorly lit. Skeletal remains of what appears to be a deceased dinosaur, wyvern, or a dragon hardly venting its and buffed in a dandelion saturation from years of ambient sand. One of the eastern pillars laid across the 2nd and 3rd floor elevation not far from the slope divide. 2 large portions seemingly fell in a peculiar angel with debris scattered about and neglected. The very columns fissuring the floor beneath in hairlines as its structure only chipped from its descent.

Each fighter appeared on either side of a pharaoh’s mausoleum roughly 110' apart, and they will duel with the intent of burying another king here in the sands of time. They will die here in obscurity. ~Mobius TZDL2017 Quarterfinals

Notify me of any numerical mistakes, geometry mistakes, or spelling mistakes immediately.

Oh some trivia: The 3 inch blocks make a boarder path that leads to the throne where Inpu and Osiris are. The walkway is smooth and contains no hieroglyphics.

Also: The ceiling does not slope up or down like the floor does as it elevates, so the ceiling maintains the same height (just means the floor is slightly closer to the ceiling. Not by much though)

And: Inpu is 30 feet long laying on the ground, about 3 to 5 feet thick depending on body proportions (shoulder to shoulder is 8 or more give or take.). Same goes for Osiris minus the helm which is longer.

An abrupt surge of something not of this world was sent rushing through the grand architecture. It carried with it a presence, filling the stagnant atmosphere with a sense of subtle curiosity. Feeling out the interior design of the pyramid to avoid any cheap surprises, a lone figure soon emerged at the southern entrance draped in obscurity with a white cloak and hood to brave the elements outside. The region was well known for its heat this time of year, according to the local visitor's center back at the settlement he arrived in. Though, in this day and age, one would have thought to expect some better mode of transportation for getting out here. Instead, having to endure hours riding around on a smelly camel strong with the pungent aroma of three week old socks covered in corn chips...

Dias walked in further, pulling back the hood to reveal the shimmering blue radiance of his hair. Certainly not the best trait to have if trying to be sneaky, standing out like a sore thumb. Of course, when was he ever known to bother with that sort of approach? The Azure had always been a no nonsense sort with very little patience for that cloak and dagger crap. Just simply wasn't his style.

To be frank, he expected his opponent to try jumping him already by now as he wandered through the place. Even his ruby gaze couldn't find anyone stalking about. Though, it did reveal something else quite extraordinary as he panned around the chamber. This place might have been ancient but it was heavily saturated with spirits of the past. In particular, those draconic bones laying among the ruins. There must have been one hell of a fight that took place here, detailing the battle scars left behind.

The cloak was then tossed aside, showing off a fresh change of clothes after getting his previous attire bloodied in that last match. Now he wore a pair of sand dusted white pants and a black, sleeveless turtleneck. Suade, steel toe boots left a trail following behind him as he soon reached the designated starting point for the second round of this tournament. Black leather gloves came together, fingers interlocking to do a quick stretch and pop joints. He had already long since taken care of his preparations before coming inside, releasing his aura to expand while likewise reinforcing his own body. If that last guy was any indication of what he could expect from the other fighters then it was far better to err on the side of caution.

This time, his sword would be drawn, the SoulLink slipping from its sheath with a fine tone, almost like a song note which hummed throughout the structure. It was matched only by the aggressive rumblings of his stomach, demanding a reward for having behaved itself during the long ardurous trip out here. He reached into one of the hard cases latched onto his belt and pulled out the last remaining bun he had baked back at the wheat field.

Dias proceeded to pull out a wrapped chunk of beef and swiss he had purchased back in town, tossing both up into the air. Sword flashing as he snapped his arm overhead in one fluid motion, the tip came to rest down at his side while his other hand was held out with the bun open. A perfectly even number of sliced meat and cheese landed gracefully atop the bread, a true demonstration of his deli cutter's prowess.

BUT WHERE WAS THE MAYO!? Dammit... Neglected something once again. Plan B then would have to suffice. Holding the Legendary Sword outward, Dias promptly placed the sandwich on the broadside of the blade. Igniting the ether within, the weapon started to give off heat, just enough to lightly toast the bread and melt the cheese to a nice gooey texture for natural flavor.

Hey, when you're hungry and in middle of bum fuck nowhere in the friggen desert, you use what you got. Nothing is sacred.

Deep within the bowels of a presumably derelict pyramid wanders a solitaire swordsman; purposed gait and confident swagger infer his wanderlust through cool, torch-lit corridors is not accidental but in search of a desire. The ghostly golden ambiance and burning crackle as they hang in their sconces direct his adventure through the ancient structure where the stale, dusty air whispers of forgotten rituals, battle and death. If his fancy is a treasure hunt it seems the only objections will be the clever traps lain by long gone builders and restless spirits of those killed uncleanly.

The man thinks himself safe enough to break for lunch in one of the expansive chambers where toppled pillars, skeletons and fractured stone structures convey decay; a room illuminated by standing braziers along walls decorated by playful shadows playing tag across the floor. Only the standing, empty idols of once-revered gods remain impeccable as they observe the construct's entropy with indifference. There the swordsman flourishes his blade to fashion his food, insomuch to use an arcane or intrinsic heat to satisfy his stomach's decree; there he eats with gladness and respite until resumption of the tasks which brought him to that deceptively dangerous place.

All appears normal save for his own entrance; only the quiet fills the background between sounds he makes for several minutes 'til he has nearly finished his meal. Mayhap only three bites remain when noise slithers into the room from down the previous hallway: a single faint, dragging rasp of metal somewhere distant soon hushed for many moments; assumptions it is imaginary are dispelled when it shrieks afresh, a bit louder; closer but still notably far off.

It seems he isn't the only one roaming the labyrinth today...

In the instant before it had made such an eerie noise, the new arrival had already registered on the Narrian's expanded senses, entering his radius in a manner which could easily pass for the start of some horror flick. Tossing the last bit of tasty morsel in his mouth, the SoulLink immediately came to bare in the direction of the chamber's entrance with Dias casually standing there sideways. Eyes transitioning once more to that devilish, crimson stare, he began to trace a circle in the air with a nonchalant expression on his face. The sword igniting, the blade revealed a myriad of glistening colors while pulsating with raw power. For anyone paying attention, it showed a pattern with each pulse akin to the rhythm of a beating heart.

The surrounding atmosphere responded in kind to his motions, drawn in by the twisting forces radiating outward from Manah's Antaklas. Even the lingering spirits bowed their heads to pay reverence as the SoulLink awoke from the Azure's ethereal burning touch. And with a snap of his wrist, the sharp edge sliced through the swirling current it had created, shattering the air to unleash a directed gust of wind down into the narrow hallway.

One of his more nasty tricks, the violent gale concealed a torrent of lethal slashing razors which billowed forth with unrelenting tenacity, invisible to the naked eye. Whoever the creature was, allowing themselves to get caught up in a closed in corridor like this was a dangerous move to make. And Dias saw fit to take full advantage, not even bothering to give them the opportunity to get through before letting loose.

Breezy air currents continued to bend to his will even after the attack, ready to respond at but a mere thought. Meanwhile, his other arm slowly lifted up as a sphere of light manifested in his open palm...

Time for another game of Chess.

How jumpy the swordsman is to strike at the slightest sound; calling upon a strength which resembles spiritual energy at first glance and using it to rend the air of the empty corridor with a horde of singing razors. He'd thought his target close but in truth they are far; strolling thru the hallway six turns and many straight steps away. The metallic wail is a cry of lonely wanderlust; quite unaware of his presence until now, the force he fears reacts appropriately: searching the long-empty pyramid for the vibrant spark of life as it glitters through a void of black; a talent intrinsic to soul-seekers who feed on its essence for sustenance.

So it extends its awareness like a mist through corridors and rooms alike in a hungry hunt, following the scent of their succulent spirit until it arrives in the chamber of the underworld's king. There the focus intensifies upon him, locking on like a missile's targeting system and broadcasting emotion in the form of intense, crushing hatred; the kind of malicious sensation most feel as pressure pulling them to the ground. Yet the exceptional will stand unperturbed; their own strength keeping the knees from buckling and determination to face the darkness galvanizing resolve to near-unbreakable fortitude.

Which he will show himself to be is accented by the screech.

It screams in a painful, five second nail-on-chalkboard needle driven directly into his eardrums but kept just below the deafening decibel; carried by the instrument itself. A sound silenced as suddenly as its start but sure to return stronger soon; for now its musician walks toward the inviting, delicious beacon of light the man resonates, aching to be famished no longer.

Huh... How odd it was that the pyramid's entrance somehow grew into a winding passage. One would think the man capable of remembering himself walking such an elaborate network of tunnels to enter this place. He must have been far too distracted at the time, too busy with the prospect of the savory morsel he had finished enjoying just minutes ago.

Not like it would make much difference...

The gale of blades would continue onward, following the path as it had nowhere else to go and carving into the walls along the way. It was a literal death trap, like a snake winding through the corridors to stalk after its prey. The minor confusion had only bought his opponent a few spare moments. Hundreds of cuts lined the stone hallways, the only sound alerting the creature to the danger swiftly approaching. And by then it would already be upon them, fangs poised as the serpent viciously lashed out, threatening to blast Dias' foe into tiny pieces with no signs of halting the ruthless advance.

That would have been around the exact instant when its soul sense registered the Narrian within the tournament's designated starting area. Assuming it had managed to somehow survive the lethal onslaught, the awareness was abruptly intercepted as Dias glared back in exchange. His stare was cold and as sharp as the razors baring down on his opponent, the look of a man who had seen much over the years. His was an adamant spirit tempered by the battlefield and his resolve tested time and again by each challenge put against him. The unspoken message was clear in that expression...these theatrics are getting old...

The sphere of light which had manifested in his left hand was gripped tightly, stretching outward from the top and taking form as he now wielded two arming swords. His ruby eyes had been narrowed, vision piercing through the walls at the monster which had its own very distinct color pattern apart from the rest of the ancient tomb. Watching intently as the ether from his attack reached the target to see the results, the SoulLink was lifted to take aim at where the creature stood, always thinking several steps ahead. Meanwhile, the twisting air currents surrounding his body would serve to muffle that overly annoying screeching ruckus, acting as a sort of sound barrier to block it out. He could still recall the last time his ears were made to bleed and didn't care for it much, not wanting to relive that experience again.

Of course, the instant before the wall of razors were about to consume whatever this creature was, it miraculously vanished as if by the will of God! Now his opponent appeared in the chamber with him, taking refuge behind some cover to the left of his own position. There was little time to waste being frustrated with missing his mark, switching gears and maintaining focus on the task at hand. It wouldn't be as fortunate from here on out. The SoulLink only needed to be turned slightly, directed at the foe as Dias began to channel his will into the mysterious weapon.

With a firm thrust, he stabbed the sword towards the creature from where he stood, punching a small hole clean through the stone as the unseen strike was aimed right between the eyes...assuming it had those. His movement was swift, taking advantage of the situation to conceal his own scheme to catch it by surprise.

Ruling
  • Tasuke did not specify in their introduction the starting position of her character.

Verdict Tasuke did not specify their starting position on the map as Player2. For this infraction the penalty is a reveal of Hisame's position from the previous turn until the 2nd turn from this post. That means no matter where she is currently located Dias Blade's character will know where she is for 2 turns. Tasuke's post after this verdict will remove the auto-reveal penalty and the fight resumes normally. The position of Tasuke's character is now 20 feet away from the Player2 point heading East. Dias you are issued an Edit On Demand to accommodate for this information if necessary.

Ruling
  • Tasuke has failed to notify anyone where they went and has been gone for 18 days

Verdict Tasuke has been officially disqualified from he/she/its quarterfinal match with Dias Blade. Tasuke and Dias have not updated their availability but Tasuke has disappeared for a long period of time. Since the player has been under numerous discrepancies and infractions throughout their tenure in TZDL it's just safer to remove them. Dias Blade I am going to issue you an infraction for not posting your availability. You will not be able to attack for ONE post in your next fight with Xavier. Waived for failure on my part for requesting availability.
